We have Ibe who is likely to develop, Markovic who should be given his chance and Milner who can play at right wing, which means our priorities are somewhere else.

Ibe gave us good width against arsenal at home, but he didn't play well. While Milner gives us good defensive contribution with tracking back, which is as important as what he does going forward, he doesn't have pace, or doesn't carry much goal threat.

Or really cheap, and then move on to the next class act and sign one of those too.

We need 4 tcp's this summer. Nothing more nothing less - give or take a few...

I don't know anything about this player, however I do know that the market is generally a good judge of a players ability and on that basis a player valued by the market at 10m is not currently at Liverpool quality requirement level. We've squandered hundreds of millions on this level of player since FSG took over in pursuit of a moneyball experiment that has brought us nothing but failure and embarrassment. Signing more of these hopefuls is a NO, NO for me.

Leicester bought Mahrez for £375K and Kante for £5.5 million, so players cannot be judged by price tags and stats alone, that's where Liverpool have gone wrong recently, we need good scouting and knowledge of the player/system to fit into, Benteke looks good on stats but just won't fit into how we want to play, so stats mean nothing.

If Klopp thinks he will fit into his system, we/FSG should back him.

I accept much of what you say there ecnirp, particularly about selecting players to suit our style of play, and of course you cannot judge a players potential impact in your side on cost factors alone, but neither can you rely on lucky hits with mass signing of potentials, and we are the only aspiring top side that does that. All top level clubs except us compete in the market on both fee and wage for proven quality players. Why do they do that? Because on average it pays off. Has our mass prospect approach paid off? No it's a dismal failure. At this point a blind man can see we need to improve the quality of our squad with at least 4 and preferably 5 proven quality players. The moneyball experiment is a gamble that needs to be finally and fully ditched and ditched in this summer window.

This is all in fear imo, liverpool can afford to take a few calculated risks, the risks we took before weren't calculated (as long as we're prepared for Ings and Ibe to have a backseat). I want to know who the proven quality is besides maybe xhaka and stegen, who we could sign.

very few of them are 'proven' quality, maybe moura, gundogan and higuain, would you hang your hat on any of them and say they will definitely be worth their inevitably high transfer fee.

and secondly most importantly perhaps would any of them come to liverpool?
