The last time we lost the League Cup Final we went on to win a European trophy in the same season.

We had a new foreign manager that season too and we subsequently went on to win the FA Cup and became the No.1 ranked team in European football over the next few seasons.

Suddenly i feel better... I see history repeating itself. Bring it on! whistle

I remember being quite harsh on Kuyt many a time. His first touch was often very poor. But I wish we had him in our team now.

What difference does that make??? I’m for joining Mighty in dreamland...it’s much nicer there!

I think far better players is a bit of an exaggeration (remember Alonso was still a bit rough) The squad was better, but not the greatest. Have another look...

Alonso was a bit rough ? Not as I remember one of our best midfielders ever him Gerrard at his best with Hamman compared to the midfield we had today to say nothing of central defence hyppia caragher etc

I must live on a different planet to some people as that is not how I remember it
