In the final two league games he got a goal and 3 assists! He was a constant threat in those games and a Newcastle player got sent off because they couldn't do anything but kick him. He also had a free kick ruled out because the ref was mucking about!

In that FA cup final you mentioned, he wasn't his best, but created Carroll's goal and it was his cross that set up Carroll for what would have been the second had there been goal line technology. Hardly anonymous.
you seem to mention this assist thing quite a lot, we don't want him assisting he was centre forward for our team his job was to be on the end of assists, if he is assisting like you say instead of scoring then that's why he never scored against Chelsea when we needed him to do his job the most, surely....

Didn't it cross your mind that he doesn't play alone in a team? Probably it didn't.

i will try to help you here, if you play defence your main job is to sop the opposition scoring anything other than that is a bonus so if you play up front and what's more centre forward your main job or duty is to provide the goals for the team, if you create and your team wins then great, wonderful, fantastic however if your team loses and you fail to do your primary job which is to score then you are always going to be held accountable as you haven't done your job. Suarez failed to do his primary duty against Chelsea for whatever reason so he never produced even it mattered most for Liverpool because of that it left a huge question mark about wether he could do it at a higher level,,it's alrite scoring against Norwich or even a Palace after the league had gone Suarez fair to deliver in s must win pressure game and the man never showed up, end of..,.

You could also say that a midfielder is there to create chances for a striker so maybe they weren't doing their jobs properly? As Vish says, it's a team game and in the games you're talking about, the WHLOE TEAM were cack.

Ok, if you ever say "we don't want him assisting," you've completely lost the plot. If his actions result in a goal, that's affecting the match, is it not? If the ball goes into the back of the net, it's a contribution that puts us ahead, whether he is the assistor or the assisted. In those 4 games you mentioned, that's 5 goals that would not have happened without him being on the pitch. Can you understand that? That's a huge contribution anyway you look at it.

Also, it must have escaped you that he was playing with a strike partner in each of those games we described: Sturridge in the league games, and Carroll in the other FA Cup final. Carroll is an old fashioned number 9, and Sturridge is more an out and out striker, in either case, Suarez is playing as a second striker, is he not? He was playing as number 7 not a number 9, supplying the bullets as Dalglish or Keegan did before him.

The last two postings are just excuses, people trying to justify his now show especially the Chelsea game when we needed him to turn up most we have just heard he wasn't playing with a settled partner, the midfield as poor so he wasn't supplied and a few other lame excuses, just answer this, where those not the cases all season or did it just happen to happen for the Chelsea game. And here lies the whole point of world class, a world class player doesn't rely on anybody to do his job for him, he is good enough to influence the game in his own particular field which in Suarez case was to score the goals which he failed to do. Did Zidane complain about playing with Deschamps when he won the World Cup 98 or did Maradonna complain about playing with absolute rubbish in 86 .the answer is no because the World Class players stand up and are counted by taking control themselves and having a direct impact to the game itself, that's why they are what they are..works class,, unfortunately Suarez for whatever reason wasn't able to do therefore failed to make the next level....

They're not excuses but facts. Look at the season as a whole and the TEAM was pretty damn good. Supply to the front men was good so we scored a bucket load of goals. The defence was always shakey and you could also argue if they'd been better on those days we could also have won something?

yes I know how the team played but the point I am making is the world class, main players, top players or whatever you want to call them come alive at the business end of the season, that's when they come into there own even the stakes are at there highest and the pressure is on, this is what sets world class apart from very good or top on the player rankings. For whatever reason Susrez couldn't manage to step up, that's the bottom line and the main FACT in all this...

+1

but I take spangles point about real world class players still making an impact on the game no matter their team, like augero, even if world class talents like sanchez for arsenal are stoppable.

I wonder then, if Suarez was to return now we replayed the same cup final, with everything the same, if he would of won us the cup.

But the whole dynamic of the team was different on those days as they were in some very poor games earlier in that season. As good as he was he couldn't do it all on his own as no player ever has. Doesn't make him any worse a player for it though.

Diego Maradonna 1986 did it on his own...
