i think Le Tiisier and Gerrard are both similar in some ways, both fantastic players ability wise, both played for clubs that were not world class so never provided them with the platform to be world clas, both big fish in little ponds and both should of left the game with more than they should of medals wise, both have been accused of liking the comforts of home and lacking ambition, Gerrard won everything there is to win at a club level, bar a league title and ballon d'or. 1 Uefa cup, 2 FA Cups, 3 league cups, 1 champions league, and 2 super cups. Because he didn't win the league, those suddenly don't count? A champions league medal is a bigger achievement. Countless other world class players like Pirlo, Zidane, Henry, the list goes on have called Gerrard the best central midfielder they've ever seen. Was Michael Owen not world class when he was here, winning the Treble and a Ballon? Michael Owen was not and never has been world class, he was given the platform at Real Madrid and for whatever reason never took it... So does he have to give back his ballon then? For a period he was one of the best, if not the best strikers in the world. That's why he won the award. WORLD Player of the Year means world class. Lots of players don't work out at certain clubs. That. He actually had a decent strike rate while he was there. He just wasn't favored, because it's a madhouse.

Michael Owen was not and never has been world class, he was given the platform at Real Madrid and for whatever reason never took it... He sat on bench at Real Madrid for most of his time there. How is that being given the platform? Michael Owen in 2000/2001 was world class, you don't win the Ballon D'or unless you are. if your good enough you don't stay on the Bench for long as your ability forces you in to the team. Michel Owen won the Ballon D'ior for goals he scored in the League Cup, F.A.Cup final against Arsenal and the Goals in the Europa League where we beat Alves in the final, you can't seriously say these are the highest level games players play in, he also scored that hatrick against Germany which England won 5-1, worst German team in about 50 years so again not really a top level achievement. All these games and goals were in the same season as Raul who scored the same if not more goals in securing Real Madrid there own League and also broke the scoring record in the champions league all his goals and contributions were at a higher level than Michel Owens. So that should tell you everything you need to know about the credibility of the Ballon D'ior that season and the winner... So you're saying that goals in finals don't matter? Mr. Trophies are everything? Come on. No player has ever won the ballon that wasn't world class. Period. He had all the qualities of a world class striker: pace, skill, intelligence, deadly finishing. He scored big goals in big games and won us trophies, including a treble. There aren't many players or teams that ever achieved that. Raul's achievements don't change Owen's. No one said Raul isn't a world class player. He won the award himself later. Are you saying that Ronaldo isn't world class because Messi is better? That's ludicrous.

Your knowledge of Liverpool is pretty awful, Owen didn't start the League Cup final against Birmingham, he didn't even come off the bench. He also didn't score in the Uefa Cup final against Alaves. He did however score 31 goals in that season, pretty impressive if you ask anyone without an agenda. Dismissing a hat trick away at Germany is ridiculous and again nobody does this without an agenda.

If he's not playing in the top division how can he be world class? Your arguments revolve around players doing it at the highest level. For example you've said Suarez wasn't world class for Liverpool.

Steve Bull scored 52 goals for Wolves in season 87/88 John Aldridge scored 29 goals for Liverpool in season 88/89 Steve Bull scored 50 goals and John Aldridge 31 who would you say was the best striker out of the two ?
