Yes, I watched us when we were in the old 2nd division, and imo it's the worst performing side I've ever seen, with an odd exceptional day here and there. It's also the weakest squad I can remember. Any quality we had has been either sold off or not offered a new contract until they knew it was too late to do so as in the case of Gerrard. It's been a relentless dumbing down of the squad and all for a few miserable quid saved on wages, along with a pursuit of a greedy moneyball experiment, that isn't about winning anything unless it happens by default, it's all about greedy moneymaking.

The latest additions to the squad have not been exactly cheap either to be fair.

What we saved in wages when we let Reina, Agger et. al. go we seem to have lost now with large salaries for Benteke and Firmino. Also we have Sturridge and Henderson on + £ 100,000 a week!

Wouldn't it be better to buy players we actually need and who can take the club forwards? Would not that make for better resale values in the future, than buying players without purpose who just add to our dire state of affairs?

Well I hope you're right Muj, but I'm not so sure, as mentioned by Top4 and myself Klopp's maiden speech on joining us sounded very much in line with FSG's moneyball policy. I'm keeping my powder dry until the summer window closes, and then I'll decide if it's his obituary or a salutation.

its not even the money..we have been willing to splash the cash to a degree. its the profile of player we are going for ...crap. We need to proper defenders,proper keepers and by proper I mean top uk ones ..we need to toughen up.

unfortunately proper this and proper that cost proper money which means not paying proper prices to get in the match, fans need to decide what they want...

for me any club which has Jordan Henderson as the figure head automatically becomes the worst in history never mind 50 years...
