A most pointless thread, arguing WHICH competition should we be out to win.. The point is winning every time you go out of the tunnel. In every sport competition, the sole reason of partaking is winning. Right now, Klopp should be thinking of winning every game in all four competitions.

Exactly. I'm no dust farter but I've been supporting them since the mid 80's so hardly a 'modern fan'. And what the fukk has it to do with anything anyway? You say we should just throw the league and concentrate on the cups which is no better. What do we do at the start of next season? Just not bother to turn up for the league games as they don't matter?

Not really I just believe it's better to pick the battles you can win and unfortunately for us Everton, Villa and Leeds United all old stalwarts of the English game the Premier League has now become beyond us. My point is that although teams like ours will never win the Premier League we can still uphold some of our principles that have shaped us and the important one was from Shanks who told us " LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB EXIST TO WIN TROPHIES " notice Bill never mentions exist to finish top four and to play in the champions league before the winning of trophies. I think people would do well to remember this instead of picking a losers mentality about just appearing in a competition just to make Money for a group of yanks who are only here to fleece the club and fans, they can't even be bothered turning up to watch matches which says it all...

In case you haven't noticed, time has moved on and so has football. I'm all for winning stuff but the reality is, top 4 is where it's at now days. I'm sure once the top 4 is out of reach we'll prioritise the cups if we're still in them. If we get to the final I'm also sure that will be prioritised over our prior league game.

You're right about the owners, but to put us (twice) in the same bracket as everton and leeds is pushing it quite a bit. Fan-base-wise, financially, global-recognition-wise, we are in a different league from them.

the top four has never been where it's at its just about the money that can be made by clubs and greedy owners, fans have always been about the club winning trophies. Do people actually realise why the champions league was formed, it was because A.C Milan always used to win the Italian league and one season they missed out and there owner at the time Silvio Berlusconi lost loads of money and campaigned to allow second and then third placed clubs into the competition. It just absolutely sickens me that fans are buying into what's best for FSG and abandoning the thing which actually made us great in the first place which was winning trophies, not just European Cups and League titles but cups in general and loads of them. Maybe I have it wrong and all these people wanting top four so badly have some sort of financial cut off FSG so if we reach top four they get money, must be to prioritise it over actually winning a trophy and succeeding at something.

I can't wait until next season or is it the season after when they take the fourth champions league place off English clubs, then this mythical top four is success thing will be a thing of the past and put to bed one and for all...

I think you must be trying to bait people seen as your comparing us to Leeds Utd, a Championship side, Aston Villa who are going down this season and Everton who have been in our shadow for as long as I can remember.

no you are looking at it from the wrong way, stop looking at the current plight of the clubs I mentioned, what I am doing is I am using the same principles to those clubs in the trajectory they moved in and what is our current trajectory. Those clubs had success and became big names much like ours, those clubs then stopped winning trophies much like ours and the point I am making now is that those Clubs have all maintained a hardcore local fanbase which has maintained a decent enough level Leeds one of the highest in the Championship, Villa and Everton regularly get mid to late 30 thousand a game, whereas we won't have that luxury as there is virtually no local fanbase now unfortunately, it's worth a discussion..
