Still cant understand how people are prioritising Premier League games over cup games, maybe the owners do yes because they actualy make money from the Club being in the top four but us fans no way, we get nothing fanancialy out of it other than price hikes. find it hard to believe there are some fans out there who think Liverpool Football Club will ever win a League again never mind in the next 10 or 15 years. This is why League Cup and the game against West Ham in the F.A.Cup are this clubs only realistic chance of silverware this season and not to mention in the next 10 years at least and I just don't understand how people still talk about Premier League games when it is a dead competition for Clubs like ours.
If Everton, Newcastle, Villa, Stoke City or West Ham were to win either of these Cups they would be chuffed to bits and celebrate it yet our fans seem to dismiss it and talk about top four which ultimately means appearing in the group stages of the Champions league then being bounced out bit like Celtic and Olympiakos do every year. My only conclusion is our fans seem to be snobs and somehow think we are too good to win these cups, baffles me really becauae 1 trophy in 10 years next year hardly backs this way of thinking up. The Premiership should never ever be dismissed. Why can't we field strong teams in every game? This squad cost £300mil to assemble! Players are too pampered, they should be able to play 2 games a week at full throttle. Also where on earth have you come to the conclusion that our fans are snobs and we are too good to win these type of cups? There is no evidence at all to support this. The benefits of finishing in the top 4 are huge and easily outweigh winning a domestic cup, however from a fans point of view I love a trip to Wembley and a good cup run. Why not both? The top 4 is obviously unlikely but in no way shape or form should LFC prioritise domestic cups over the league.

The money involved and the pull you get from being in the ECL is massive and can't be dismissed. The only way we should prioritise cups over top 4 is when we mathematically can't get top 4.

yeap but its not about playing in CL per se.we could qualify for CL and perhaps dont even go past group stages.
being in top 4 i think sends a strong message in terms of transfers too. now we cant even battle with hammers, toffees and spuds.... such is the [oops] we are in For me, the question is this: WHY do fans want us to get into the Champions League? Is it for the chance to travel Europe and play against bigger teams? Or is it because the extra cash will give us a better chance to compete in the Premier League?

Being a regular in the Champions League brings in huge revenue but also makes you appealing to top drawer players. Having a better quality of player can only enhance your chances in all competitions.

The answer is simple...achieve CL football and we are able to bring better quality players to the club...if FSG take their heads out of their asses that is! Last time around instead of going for the cream of world football, FSG's policy was to go for mainly British or unproven raw young talent at a time when we should have been bringing in world class proven quality! CL football is the most important key to continued success in the prem and domestic cup comps! I hate this theme from the younger fans of acceptance of mediocrity...NEVER EVER SHOULD LIVERPOOL FANS GIVE UP BELIEVING! We are Liverpool FC with one of the biggest fan bases worldwide. Whomever are temporary custodians of the club should treat us with the respect and status we deserve as a Top World Football Club and with that should be the continued financing of players who deserve to pull on the shirt and step out onto the Anfield pitch!

The league is so wacky this year - if one team can get some consistency they will climb the table. In that sense, I don't blame Klopp for not conceding the prem just yet.
He might actually rotate for Stoke a bit, as they are a big physical team, Benteke could start that one. I agree with kopprophet and redscouser, about a morale boost, and attracting players with Cl football, but I see Spangles point, and any silverware in the cabinet could be massive going forward. I put this to you though spangles, would you rather we get embarrassed in the league, and lose to sides we should be beating by completely prioritizing cups? And does it make much of a difference to rest players, to 'prioritze', for cup matches?

Wow what a depressing thread. The premier league has never been easier to win for a really good side. By that I mean the quality at the top is the lowest its been since the premier league started, proven by the fact that Leicester, a team who escaped relegation on the last day of the season, are 3 point clear at the top with only 15 games remaining.
I believe we have a great manager in charge who is perfect for this league. Improvement needed in defence and a couple of goalscorers and we can be right up there. I actually believe we could be challenging as soon as next season and I'll stick my neck out and predict we win the league in the next 5 years. The only team to worry about in my opinion is Man City with Guardiola in charge next year, but I suspect he isn't going to find it as easy as managing Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

I disagree. Teams are judged on how well they do in the league. Arsenal went along time without winning anything but they're were still a top side.
League cups and FA cups boost a solid league campaign but for me the league is the foundation.
Also, Champions League football attracts better players and is also nice to be in. 100% Agree

I said could be not would be. Success does breed success for teams who can spend normally. I think it would be a special achievement if klopp could win us the league cup (league cup sounds better) taking over from rodgers, if not no bother.
