Yes, and I provided solid reasoning for saying so. Starting both Lallana and Coutinho was a bit of a luxury selection for a tough physical away game. Both players were easily bumped off the ball for two thirds of the game - and we looked so much better when Can arrived to give us more grit and movement up the middle.

I kind of agree but there's nothing to say that Can would have had the same influence if he'd started from the off. I think it was a good time to bring him on as others were tiring and Cans' strength helped control the game; however, he hasn't much of a pre-season and stamina seems to be a bit of an issue with him so he would probably have flagged if he'd started the game.

Can replaced Coutinho's position in midfield. I think Lallana would have looked as good in front of him had Coutinho been sacrificed. Lallana was the livelier of the two up until Can's introduction.

Yes that's correct.

What a difference when bth Hendo and Milner were alloud to have more free flowing forward going roles.

To me the 11 that finished the game would be the starting XI next week! smile

I didn't see that all, even when things weren't coming off Coutinho was the one trying to drive forward and make things happen. I hope Lallana comes good but so far he seems to be all about clever little touches that never really lead to anything.

That's not my perception at all.

Can replaced Hendo's and Milner's position.

We went from:

--------Mignolet---------

Clyne-Skrtel-Lovren-Gomez

----Milner--Henderson----

-Ibe--Coutinho---Lallana-

---------Benteke---------

to:

--------Mignolet---------

Clyne-Skrtel-Lovren-Gomez

-----------Can-----------

----Milner--Henderson----

-Firmino--------Coutinho-

---------Benteke---------

what formation did we start with? 4-1-4-1? very weird start for stoke away. I think we just cant figure out these physical sides. Migonlet is my MOTM. Skrtel had some bad back passes and Gomez looked his age today. Lovern and Clyne looked good for the most part. Why no DM today? We didnt have anyone to run our game when we had the ball either. Big Ben won a ton of headers but many times didnt have anyone close enough to drop it to or players were just on different pages. Lallana didnt do anything for me, Coutinho had trouble all day worked though but still a tough one. Ibe also couldnt make it happen a little sad to see but hopefully its just a blimp on his career this season. our midfield 2 of Milner and Hendo ran all day. Emre Can coming into the midfield seem to help them out a lot but then none of them were getting forward. It seemed confusing to them.

At the beginning of the match I thought the forwards would all be interchanging the whole game but I guess I was wrong. So my conclusion, Benteke needs to go get the ball more it may mean come short and demand the Ball. Firmino looks exciting, looking forward to when he gets a full 90 mins. Also Brendan needs to make changes sooner. His in game changes are pretty good but he nvr subs anyone at half. Why? When the first half was so Blahhh I want to see a change. Today we came out the same as we went into half and it wasnt pretty before what makes him think it will be pretty after, with no changes.

Solid win and agree that the 11 that ended the game should start next week. Toss up between ibe and firminio

Lovren surprised me understandable that he and gomez got a bit lost at times.

Can made a huge impact, allowed milnet and hendo to be kore agrrsesive and we started to open them up a little.

It is so nice to have a target in benteke. Won just about every header that came his way either getting it down to himself, a teammate or flicking it on to a position that was dangerous or stoke had no chance to counter attack. Firminio and benteke will reek havoc i feel

Most dissapointing thing for me today was the set pieces. We need to get past the first man and give benteke a chance.

I did like that move with milner and coutinho though.

Some seriously delusional people on here giving BR a 9, he was looking for a draw and set the team up to do so, it was only after he changed his side after 60 mins that we started looking good, coutinho was his usual self aside from a screamer on the 86th minute, on most forums people were begging Rodgers to take him off, Henderson was [oops] yet some people on here scored him highly.

Yea phil was well held until the goal was the first time they hadnt closed him down.

Usual problems for him thougn. If he is man marked and given no time he doesnt work for the ball and is useless.

He was coming off though for ings before the goal. 10 minutes to late mind you but it worked in the end lol
