A club is defined by its policies and practices more than by individual strengths or weaknesses, yet narrow minded posters on here keep focusing on the nitty gritty and never broaden their perspectives enough to understand that we are what we are because of the policies and practices we have in place.

Who says Marsh and Pascoe were responsible? It's implied by their sacking of course. If not, why were they sacked?
Those two individuals are not random. O'Driscoll has been around a while and that other fella was from the youth set up. Gary Mc brings a player perspective. And should he get assistants with less experience than him? Would that help? I specifically didn't say that the persons selected were random. I said the manner in which they were brought in was random. The norm is for a manager to have a trusted team, or at least part of a team, that he has previously worked with. BR should certainly have more authority than his assistants, not just through his position but because of his personal and professional credibility - I'm not sure that's the case in this setup.
Just because we don't like Sterling doesn't mean Rodgers has to follow. I don't think I suggested that. What I would say though is that making so many changes in the management team on an individual basis seem haphazard. If results aren't good BR will be very vulnerable. If he goes then the whole set up will need to change again.
Benteke is nothing like Carroll. He has been reported as our top target and we're paying a release clause. No desperation to buy a proven EPL player is there? Is he proven in the style and formation the BR wants to ply? And what changed that is leading us to suddenly be prepared to pay the release clause? Just because we now have the money from the Sterling sale? Just like we paid way over the odds for Carroll just because we got £50m for Torres?
Three players not wanted with plenty of time to get rid. The two have made debuts just not in the league.
We've spent plenty on defenders from Lovren, Clyne, Alberto and Gomes. What's his name on loan last season and Sakho before. It's now down to Rodgers to utilise them better. Agree. it's just so far the spending on the defence has provided little or no improvement so some action on this aspect might've been expected. Let's see how it goes.

Not at all Faz. Where have I predicted doom? Another case of you seeing things that haven't been written. It's just some critical assessment and asking a few questions. We all hope that somehow things will work out... but would you bet on it?

I personally think Rodgers was told to mix things up so decided to change his staff. It happens from time to time and not always for any kind of trusted lieutenant. It was all a bit quick but that's about all. As for Benteke. I'm not sure he's really going to be good for us but at least he has proven he can score in the EPL. I think he's more than just a target man so could prove to be a great buy. But all transfers are a risk. And we're meeting the buy out as Utd have been sniffing around. I think it's too much but if he scores a load who cares?

There is no doubt whatsoever that Rodgers was a failure in his third season at LFC. Sixth in the league, missing out on a Wembley final by failing to beat Aston Villa and early European exits summarize our season. Let's keep in mind however that things were not so rosy in our garden before Rodgers. Our problems are much deeper rooted.

Om paper the first team looks stronger than last term. the midfield will be more solid with Milner and Can in there, but the center of defence is poor though. And the manager is sadly lacking in leadership and as a tactician.

I'm not very convinced on Sakho hopefully skirts and lovren can get it on this year with Sakho illori and maybe Gomez as back up ! But we don't even know if illori will be here or on loan so the back has some probs as you say don't know if he even seems concerned as no real links to any reputable cd have been showing up ? Possibly still thinking about defending with the ball, defending from the front, death by football, ghosting like shadows, playing in the channels....

We are a poorer side than when Suarez and Sturridge were banging in 50 goals and there are a fair few fans and respected critics who said our defensive frailties cost us that season. Last season was worse and a complete right off and up to now there has been no changes either as DMF or a CB which is alarming.
Sturridge is not back until heavens knows when and don't tell me that Benteke is going to do a Suarez. So, unless there is some defensive appreciation by Rogers in the next few weeks signings wise, I can't see there is a huge deal to feel over confident about. Yes, it's possible some of the frees and well negotiated signings improve certain areas that were weak but is it going to be enough when everyone around us will be stronger?
Genuine question before anyone spits their dummy on hopium.
