Now Sherwood may have told the world that Benteke buyout clause is 32.5million, but we should be blunt back and tell Villa the only way we will pay that buyout clause is on the final day of the window, and we will only pay it, if we have not signed another striker instead.

Then we should submit a 25million offer for Benteke and tell Villa it is valid until the last day of the window and if they want to sell for 25million to contact us and we will do a deal.

Benteke should also submit a transfer request and tell Villa the only club he will sign for is us.

Job done, Villa face the prospect of not selling and having a unhappy player.

Not selling for 25million and praying we offer 32.5 million on the last day of the window, which even if we do buggers up the transfer window for Villa.

A lesson in how to be ruthless Mr Ayre.

If it was that simple, 90% of all transfers that involve buyout clauses would be conducted that way. The reason you cannot do business like this is because sooner or later clubs will refuse to deal with you.

If we meet the buyout clause they have to deal with us regardless.

He's not a sick note. He's had ONE major injury spell in his career, and he's recovered from it.

£25m would even be a hefty fee

they need to abandon this deal as soon as possible

£32m for a player who only scored 13 goals last term, is he really worth anything near that fee?

you could also argue that he is essentially a target man, maybe a little more technically gifted than carroll was but essentially a target man. he doesn't fit the system, carroll didn't fit the system.

its basically andy carroll all over again, similar fee, similar player

bacca should have been the one, for £12m cheaper

This is not how expect LFC to behave. Put a value on the player and make the offer. if they don't accept and a deal can't be struck swiftly move on. Show respect to other clubs. Other clubs mat behave differently but this is LFC. We should be keeping higher standards.

Are these the same high standards that mean we should sell Sterling because he has put the slightest foot out of line?

Sterling wants to leave and doesn't want to sign a new contract, so what's the [oops] are you talking about?

And what if Villa don't buckle? They don't have to sell until; someone meets the buy out.

Also, if we leave it that late and they don't sell, how much time will that leave us to find someone else? Fukk all that's how much!

Try thinking for once!

And what if somebody else meets the buyout clause in the meantime?
