Fantastic news about Firmino-he seems like a really exciting prospect. Also looks like Nathaniel Clyne on his way and they determined to sign a proven goalscorer.

The one position that I am not hearing any talk about is DM. To me the team is crying out for a midfield general in the mould of Souness, Steve McMahon or even a Paul Ince type player. Someone that will take the game by the scruff of the neck and lift all those around him. Maybe this is what they expecting from Milner but I'm not sure he quite fits that role.

You haven't looked hard enough then.

We are signing both Clyne and Schneiderlin for 40 miland seeing as though Rodgers hates DM's, it's pretty obvious we are buying for someone else.

The problem is how many new players are people just expecting to drop into the side and come out against a very good Stoke team and win?

We are almost forced to do it because of the shambles of last season's transfers but it rarely bodes well and I get the feeling we will be hearing the same excuses for next season and it may come good the season after.

What are we up to now? 6 or so new signings? All better than the ones who need to be shifted out and adding a DM as well(which I think you make a strong case for) would be 7.

That's one hell of a churn in players and we need to hit the ground running as everyone knows.

Seems impossible to be frank.

There has been minimal if any links with Liverpool and Schneiderlin so where are you getting this from? Clyne looks on his way as everyone knows and has been in the media since the last day of the season.

Clyne, Ings, Milner, Schneiderlin are all premier league proven, that just leaves Bogdan who won't get any game time, Gomez who is for the future and Firmino who is class, but may take time to adapt.

Lallana, Lambert, Lovren and you could argue Balotelli were Premiership proven last year, it doesn't mean anything. The step up to a bigger club is what players always struggle with, Milner is the exception to this coming from City.

Anyway like I have already asked, where are you getting the Schneiderlin information from because I haven't seen anything linking us to him since the seasons end?

Been saying this for too long now.
Also completely agree with you Top4.
It's too much at once. From seasons end the most important things for me were a top striker, a good back up goal keeper (someone that would actually push Simon for top spot) and a defensive midfield leader who will sit, protect the defence, breaking up attacks and dictate the play from deep.

That's 3 signings and this is why I didn't agree with Milner, Ings, Bogdan and Gomez.

I don't actually think we will get a holding midfielder now and Can/Allen will rotate in that role I guess.
Hopefully if needed Bogdan does better than any of us expect he will.

Javi Martinez is the dream though.

I would love to see a "propoer 'Ard" DM in the Vidal, Song, Sissoko (NUFC) mould but I dont think BR likes to use them as mentioned previously. That being said, a midfield trio of Hendo, Milner and Can is pretty solid.

Sissoko is an attacker. Doesn't have the discipline to play deep.
