18 months ago Ayre travelled to Dnipro to sign him and offered serious cash. Now that the guy is available on a free and stating publicly that he wants to move to LFC we do not show any interest.
What in the owrld is going on at LFC when we would rather keep a mug like Sterling, sign the Bogdan's of this wold rather than be interested in a player like Kono? Kono quite simply isn't that good. We were desperate for something and offered ridiculous money for him that he was not worth. Now no one big is moving swiftly to pick him up on a free, no surprise, we dodged a bullet and hopefully we spend wages on someone far better. Just looking at the different goals he scored he should be worth double that overrated [oops] Sterling is. I can't believe we would have paid a load out when he wasn't availble now he aint good anymore. Something stinks

Even if he don't make the 1st 11, at least we'll have a stronger bench which was one of our biggest problems.

Maybe because he is free he is asking for stupid wages.
Or we have other targets like another defender. Or any other Southampton player.

Kono still has a part owned portion with the club owner I believe.
He has already spurned opportunities elsewhere, seems to be waiting on an offer or a deal going through. Time will tell.

I'd consider it excellant business if we were to sell Sterling for £40-£50, then used that money to sign a top striker, and then brought Kono in to replace Sterling.
Kono in for Sterling would automatically strength us, plus we'd get the top striker we need at no cost. Not sure what top striker we'd be able to get with no CL, but surely we could get someone decent. Maybe Higuian, Vietto, hell we could even put in a bid for Kane.

Maybe we should give a chance to the players we already have in that role first?
Even if Sterling goes we still have Coutinho, Lallana, Ibe, Markovic, Tex, Wilson, Origi and Sturridge that can all play that role.
We wanted to see Ibe and Markovic in their proper roles, well here we go then.
