See I'm disappointed about this. Not that he's not a fine player and fantastic we signed him on a free... My issue is Henderson. Milner came to us with assurances of playing in central midfield. Now, for me he doesn't have the discipline or specialist skill to play as the deepest midfielder in a 3 and I think considering our wide talent (Ibe, Markovic, Tex, Llama) that we won't be playing a diamond so does this mean that Milner's going to take Jordan's role in the team? After all, both Henderson and Milner like that right hand side of a 3 more than any other position. Especially with these links to Kovacic you'd expect him to play on the left side of the midfield 3 with Cou in a free role in a front 3. Alright, that's well and good but who's in the other two roles in the midfield?
Jordan has done well and keeps improving. He's been given the armband last season and I believe we only lost 1 game in which he wore the captaincy. Yet, we're now stripping him of not only that but his place in the first team for an aging James Milner? That doesn't sit right with me, especially when I consider Henderson the better player and think he's one of two players we should be building the squad around.
If he's happy to 'compete' with Henderson and the better player plays then I'm happy with that as I think both would show real fight and desire from the bench but for me, regardless of being at City etc, James Milner should not get an automatic starting spot over Jordan Henderson.
