RedScouser, i dont fully agree with you on BR but i understand your points, and some are very valid ones. Unfortunately, you'll find that people on here dont really like fact based opinions and prefer subjective views based on some very shaky points.

The benefits of a big name manager are numerous, experience and the ability to attract players of a higher calibre are just two. However, discrediting BR as a manager and dismissing his football knowledge and tactical knowledge based solely on the season passed is rash and in my opinion not a valid indicator of his ability.

Fair enough but the only way someone can become a big name manager is by winning things. And that only can happen is by giving him a fair chance and more time. In this day and age it is only the league and European competitions that count for much. Brendan has had little chance to win either with the resources and time he's been given (yes, he should have done better in the champions league and Europa league last year).

And the response you'll get off this forum is that he won't win anything and we will finish further behind top 4 next year if he is given the chance. Nothing to do with football, it is just a case of not liking the man for one reason or another. The football we played when we finished 2nd, was best we played for years in my opinion. With the right players it shows Brendan can manage a top team.

Selling your best player and buying young unproven players is always going to take time. We had a awful season in the league largely because we had to integrate so many young players in and we still finished 6th. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take 2 steps forwards.

Has it occurred to you both that neither Kenny nor Rodgers is the answer?

I agree fully, you have to give the manager time to become experienced and win trophies, the problem is though, with the giant amounts of money coming in from TV and Champions league football, is time something we have on our side? We can't afford to give BR time because if it takes him 4 years or so to win a trophy or qualify for CL, we will be well and truly also-rans. The gap will just get bigger and bigger.

Trust me, I agree with your views, God knows how much I have argued on here in defence of them, I just fear that the only thing we need and yet cannot afford right now is time. This is why we have to be ruthless and bring in someone with experience and a pedigree right away.

Kenny wasn't the answer. He will always remain a club legend as rightly so, but his second spell in charge without dressing it up was dreadful. Rodgers is too early to tell.

June 1st, Klopp has made it known he wants to join.
FSG are interested.

Now you may ask what is the problem.?

1) Finances - Klopp will be paid more highly than Buck, will FSG agree to his wage demands?

2) Transfer committee, Klopp will not work under one.

Solve those 2 and it will happen.

Actually there's not much difference in wages between what Klopp was on and what Rodgers is on. They're both roughly 3.5 mil.

Well you said it was going to happen so I'm sure they'll sort it out.
