Again, what's he supposed to say? 'We're a shitte club now and no one in their right mind would sign for us'?

I agree. Yet so many words come from so many managers not just Rodgers. Just ignore what he says. I do and the same for the rest of them from managers to pundits.

But Rodgers does have a tendency to over exaggerate our ability and under exaggerate our failures more so than any other manager I have heard speak.

Does he? I wouldn't say he does. Very few will actually say what they think and will always play up their teams. Only on the odd occasion will a manager say he thought his team were crap.
