A penny for your thoughts. What do you think will happen to Man City or Chelsea if the owners suddenly decide that a football club is no more an amusing toy to them and call it quits? Would such clubs be able to sustain themselves as the powerhouses they are today or would they return to their previous state of mediocrity?
I think it wouldn’t matter, the world is full of billionaires, many of them egomaniacs, and they’d find replacements. As others said City is best placed even if they didn’t find an egomaniac billionaire or trillionaire. Chelsea might struggle in their current state of infrastructural and merchandise/sponsorship development. However as they are they’re achieving things. It just goes to show you how unlucky we were, or was it luck and not crass stupidity on the part of those idiots who went west?
