It might also because of season ticket holders in their 50s,60s,70 etc. It probably is where I sit average age is about 55. But eventually these people (who have followed the team through thivk and thin for decades) will go who will replace them given the price is pretty soon going to be £75 a game. Young people around 19 years of age? I think not more likely corporate and a very transient support base who go to the odd game more of them but less loyalty. Therefore any fall off in team performance will have a direct impact on the supporter base. For myself I could not give a monkeys as each year goes by I have less interest I am just glad I witnessed the days when we had a great team and great support in the sense of atmoshere and the craic

They do earn their living well and also go to the away games mainly in London. High ticket price was introduced to keep hooligans out of stadium as one of the measures, and let's face it, it did work.

It did work re holliganism but not everyone who used to watch football but is priced out was a houligan yes your friends sound very comfortably off indeed whether people like them will fill the stadium remains to be seen.

That's just speculation. Is that officially stated anywhere? I doubt it's true. The sole reason for higher prices is to rake the cash in. Also, I suspect you get quite a few hooligans from higher earners - you can see as they can afford to travel abroad to away matches & international matches.

That's not speculation but was one of the measures from what I know from foreign (French) journalists. You don't need to believe. When I first started to watch liverpool on my own anyone could go I was 14 and I could afford it from my earnings as a paper boy. Then with the advent of all seater and the premiership it became a middle class sport. Now it's moving beyond that to a premium sport where only the very high earners can afford to go to games and you even need to be reasonably well off to afford the sky subscriptions the fprecast in the UK is once the new deal comes in, in 2016 we are looking at £950 just to watch premiershio football in your own home. Very soon going to the game itself will only be for the very well off I can see the day when it's £100 a game to see liverpool play live for most of us that's a once or twice a season thing, The days of a supporter regularly following their team look to be coming to a close

I stopped going when it reached the dizzy heights of £5.7/6d. A new pair of gore tex hiking boots or watch liverpool FC for 90 minutes crammed into a tiny seat at anfield in a stand designed 40 years ago. Difficult choice that one

The Chelsea hooligans in France the other week were by no means low earners.

In general terms (there are always exceptions) there are more divies in the lower earnings group it's not money related but age the lower earners tend to be young. People who are middle aged and can afford the high cost of attending anfield tend to be responsible people. It's a fact if life you are more exuberant when you are young and more aggressive too
