Bh People will lose interest simply because they can no longer afford to watch their club either at the stadium or now in their own home. I am reading in today's newpapers Sky will be increasing to £900 a year. If you are crazy enough to go to anfield without any travel costs or only fir premiership games that is £2000 a year. I am sure some will pay that but for the mass market there are decreasing numbers who can afford that. The fact sky's shares fell by three per cent shows the markets and investors think it's unviable. The market is assuming many will walk from sky products as for the stadium fan that's a complete joke now all the money going into football goes into players wages not a penny to help loyal fans who attend the games without which there would be no television product On the day the TV deal was announced, man united's shares rose by 5%.... Given they are being gifted hundreds of millions extra for doing nothing somehow I find that fact unsurprising

A friend told me an amazing statistic that by 2016 /17 season even the bottom premiershio club will receive £100m a year in TV money. Italian clubs like ac / inter and juve get about £15m. So the greats of football like AC Milan under financial fair play cannot compete with burnley. As an Englishman and with several of the benefitting clubs living a short drive from me maybe I should be pleased about this. But I actually find it obscene clubs are elevated due to tv ratings and nothing to do with the fans or the traditions of the club. Great clubs and others I gave mentioned right accross Europe will be unable to compete english clubs will rule everything or rather 18 will the rest of english football the many clubs in the lower leagues and grass roots football will be thrown to the dogs. Long term this won't end well as I fear premiershio football and it's popularity globally is a fad built on sand once people start to lose interest there will be nothing to fall back on not just english football but european too which I now fear for great post and you have hit the nail on the head.we all love football but it has turned into a financial circus.the formation of the premier league and sky tv have a lot to answer for.

There are good and bad things with it. With all the money, maybe the our best players will stop being drawn to other leagues. Ronaldo, Suarez, Bale, Fabregas (though he came back) and many others were drawn to other pastures, but I think there is a chance the league can start attracting the best players from around the world again and start winning the CL again. It wasn't that long ago that United, Liverpool, and Chelsea were regulars in the late stages of the CL. Us, Chelsea and United have all won it at least once in the past 10 years. It's still very possible for the tide to shift back.
It could really be bad news for some of the smaller clubs in the lower leagues, but on the other hand, think about what clubs like Everton, Sot'on, West Ham, Swansea or Newcastle could do with that money. It might really help some clubs that are already in dire straights (and many of them are). Promoted clubs will be massively rewarded, and I'm sure the parachute money is still a lot. Lower league football is amazing in some ways, but you have to wonder if that many clubs in a country with the size and population of England was ever truly sustainable. Many of these clubs have been in debt, huge debt for decades.

It would not be so bad if the TV money went into football fans stadiums the lower leagues instead it's being spunked on players and agents. I understand you have to pay the going rate but premiership wages far exceed the rest of Europe with the exception of two Spanish clubs

That wouldn't surprise me. If that happened, I could see it being much better run than national FAs (which are all terribly run with the exception of Germany and Holland), and I could see there being wage caps and a much more stable contract system.
But who knows.

i don't see that happening at all. the money involved with naational leagues is simply too big, the business is too big. I can't see them ever changing that in favour of an elite european league. Imagine if we had that league and say the top 2 or 3 clubs from the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France made it into the league. What happens with the other million clubs from their national leagues? What happens to their second league (championship) clubs?
It's a nice idea but i think it isn't very practical and doubt their would be a willingness for it.

Something has to change football is going down an absurd direction that ultimately will kill the game as we know it.

Same as now they go into the epl or the next highest league There has already been talk of a breakaway super league by clubs so eventually it will happen im just saying an international euro league could be very interesting imo It's not going to happen, local football associations won't let that happen. The CL was created to get rid of such a scenario. If you take the last 16 of CL you have just that, the best teams in Europe playing each other. The way the football associations would prevent that, is that any player not playing within the football associations which are part of UEFA and FIFA would not be selected to play for their national team.
