I know JC is only doing his job, but he must feel a bit awkward knowing that he's been guilty of far FAR worse defensive performances himself. No doubt he cared a lot about LFC but he was a very poor player, a liability, and a huge own goal risk. He'd never cope with the pace of forwards today. I'll never forget Terry Henry jogging past him down the wing after giving him a 10yrd start! Ok, maybe he was a bit harsh, but this is worse. He's one of the best defenders we ever had at this club. Even his last year, he was a rock and a true leader and organizer. He made his share of mistakes (even Vidic and Terry did in their primes as well), but calling him a poor player is just not true, and hugely disrespectful.

Carragher's comments on him were very harsh IMO.
Hazard makes every friggin fowl look twice as bad.
3 at the back generally has been a short term solution for Rodgers
Emre can Henderson Lallana/Coutinho would be a great midfield 3 Carra always seems overly harsh on us. More so than other ex player pundits. Maybe he's turned back into a bluenose up there in his nice warm studio? I think it's just because he cares so much. He predicted us to get CL at the beginning of last season when no one else did. But when its' poor, he gets frustrated. Plus it's his job to critique things. Neville is pretty harsh on United in the same vein. He's even called Van Gaal predictable.

The only reason he did well towards the end of the season is because he was fresh. Poor form kept him out of the side for quite a while. 100% for the effort he gave but not a good player at all. He did ok as a central midfielder at the start, and quite well as left back when he was used there, but as a centre back he was slow and clumsy. That isn't disrespectful - just an honest evaluation.

..says the man who idolises a mediocre AC Milan player. Clearly your judgement is equally suspect.

Time will tell but his last 3 managers didn't rate him so I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.
