noun [oops]·trar·i·an \kən-ˈtrer-ē-ən, kän-\.
If all else fails say that word outstanding a couple of times. The more you do the more you will believe your own spin.

Essential position in my view

Masherano and Hamman had we either of these in our team at their best we would have won the title last year no question about it

If br cud get the midfield balance right , with a natural DM in their

I think IT wud take pressure off the back 4 and the keeper

And

Allow our attacking players express them selves more higher up the pitch

He's a hard one to put a finger on as BR wont bloody well play him mad
He was said to be a defender who prefers the DM role from what I remember... needs games to find his place though.

Very different players those two even though they played the same position... but yeah, I'd give my left nut for a player in the mold of either of them.

(I'd take Hamann all day given the choice)

I'm probably in the minority but I don't feel a specialist defensive midfielder is necessary. At least, not in the majority of games.
I feel like in recent games we have been wasting Henderson out wide when it's clear as daylight to me that he was the right choice for our vice captain and needs to play in the centre. Personally, I don't think we need Lucas and furthermore, think we would be better without him in most games.
I'm a big fan of Henderson and a lot of you will say he's got no creativity, he runs around like a headless chicken, makes no impact, etc. The thing is, I disagree and we got the best of him last season because we played a fast paced style of football. Henderson seems to flourish in a 1-2 touch system but also has great vision and ability to play long balls either on the ground or over the top. He's tough, athletic, quick and young and I think he could be a major player for us over the next 5 or so years.
I would love to see us partner him with Emre Can in a 4231 system.
The way I love to see football played is with overlapping fullbacks and inside attacking midfielders in a fluid, movement based style.
I think it'd be very good to see Hendo and Can in midfield with any 3 of Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling, Markovic and Suso in front of them, all interchanging and moving behind the centre forward.
In attack, depending on the side the ball is on, one of Can or Henderson can push higher to support the attack whilst the other drops just behind the play and in front of the centre halves. They should rotate in this system, giving both a chance to push forward as a box to box player as well as sitting deeper to defend the counter attack. It would also create a "partnership" between the two.
We need mobility in the centre of our park and Lucas/Gerrard don't give us that.

Gerrard is a legend of the club and still deserves a place but only as an impact substitute in an attacking role. I think the end of this season should mark the end of his reign as our captain and place that responsibility in Henderson's hands to lead this team forward.

I don't believe that Lucas is necessary and I would like to see Allen replaced by the young Norwegian Odegaard and Rossiter to implement them in the role as backup for either Henderson or Can.

We have so much potential in this squad and our youth could be instrumental to our future.
Our future should be built around Coutinho, Markovic, Henderson, Lallana and Can.

We need Conan...or should i say Can on.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.
