But its still an open question as to WHY we failed to attract the big name players? Wages, coach, the city itself, the lure of bigger clubs or are we simply incompetent when it comes to close a deal?

Is there anyone out there that can honestly say Rodgers can fix the situation ?
Players who played well last season are crap this season Players who were stars for their teams , look terrible here
Will we be fighting relegation this season , 40 points right now looks very far away ?
And why ,keep playing Joe Allen , when you have Can on the bench ?
Yes, of course it can be fixed, first sign a decent keeper, defensive mid, two decent front players and replacements for Lovern and Sakho. For example, if we had Sturridge and Suarez playing up front today, we’d have won that game easily today, we had no one to put the ball in the net! With better cover at midfield and in goal, I’d argue we wouldn’t have conceded those three goals. The issue is quality in key positions, that’s the essential difference between last year and this.

The only regular from last year that's not there though is Suarez. Hendo, Gerrard both had cracking seasons last year but now look bolloxed! Sterling too was being hailed as a £100m player in the making and now looks like me when playing! I do think, like you, that with the right couple of signings it can be so much better. Get Sturridge back too and you never know. Trouble is, I'm not sure that Rodgers of FSG will get the right players and, cliche or not, January is a difficult window.

It's money mate. If world class players are not coming to us for whatever reason it can be fixed by raising the buying money or wages. after you get a few world class players it will become easier to attract more.

Do we have that money though? We did this summer but can we splash the cash in January now?

Sure. Rodgers will call Henry and say "Hey John, remember those 200 million grant? No luck with them. Would it be too much trouble to send me another 200?" and Henry would say "Sure pal, no problem" and that would be that!!
