For me, it's hard to say the SG should not play. I think he should, but just stop him taking corners. I have said it for a long time, he is terrible at them. Can't get a ball past the first post and our return on corners is a bad bad joke. Put him in the box on the receiving end. We need Stevie G if for nothing else to convince some talent that Anfield is still a top place to play football. Who else is a draw to the place ? I can't think of any players at Anfield that I would want to play with if I had a talent for the top end of the game SG at his age cannot play all games and instead of buying Markovic, we should have gone for a DM I don't think a DM would help us very much. Most of our goals are conceded from set pieces and woeful defending - 2 things which a DM doesn't directly influence. And If we played a DM we'd have 1 less 'attacker' so we'd be scoring even fewer than we are at the moment.

Completley agree - Gerrard needs to be dropped to the bench all together. Have been saying for the last 2 years that he needs to be phased out of the 1st team.
Sadly the time has come for him to completely remain on the bench and just come on as a sub when we are winning, and should just concentrate on imparting his wisdom to the youth team and other fringe players around him.
His time has come and gone, and it's this sentimental disease that always seems to curse us. Sometime you gotta just call what you see, Allen, Lucas, Henderson, Can are all more effective than he is.

BR is playing him in a position that doesn't suit his style. Used sparingly, in his correct position, he can still play a part in our team. Agree with Herc (even though he left me standing alone, at dawn, pistol in hand, waiting for our duel), lack of respect towards Gerrard is shocking. That’s why you’re still alive and kicking, despite those crocked knees, had you met me at dawn, pistol in hand, you’d be sprouting wings and strumming on your harp by now. In my heyday I could, and often did, put three bullets into a half crown at one hundred yards, so be careful what you wish for Mr. Knees. Anyway I agree, the disrespect shown to one of our greatest is indeed shocking and uncalled for.

Not sure if your saying you agree or disagree ? Haha. Sorry for the late reply. Work work work all day long! I agree, but am afraid our owners/manager/committeeeh are unaware that they are shopping in the garbage bin instead of the top class bin. They sadly seem to be having a quite different view of what the concept "Top Class" means. The 2 top class mids you are talking about would probably be coming from Southampton and Swansea - no disrespect to them, but perhaps you understand what I mean? (more wasted money without any progress)...

Yeah, I understand that all clubs and teams need a fair bit of potential youth too, but now it's getting ridiculous at LFC.
Not one single top top player in sight as far as I'm concerned.
The worst thing is that we thought we could replace Suarez with no less than 9 hopefuls!
The fact our squad was thread bare last season doesn't mean we instantly had to fill it up regardless of the quality added.
Think if we had settled for just 2 real top class players a year since FSG came in. Where would we have been then now?
Not even Chelski with all their money have built their squad over night. They have added quality over the years, and sometimes perhaps taken a step back (Mata, Torres, Ba etc), but have been consistent enough to add proven quality.
