Yes sky should be cheaper in regions with a lower average income, but i believe the rates are set at the national level, not local.

Do you feel the poor rice farmer in China should pay £55 for the PL despite the fact his daily earnings are the equivalent of 2 dollars? Way to run a business. You would have no no customers left. Sky and BT will charge what the people are willing to pay and can afford to pay. The moment you stop paying and subscription numbers go down, so to will the prices.

Again, basic economics. For a retired accountant you don't seem too clued up on how this demand and supply thing works.

In the far east wealth is on a par with or greater than the UK as is America why do they not charge more ? instead they charge less than the UK far less. Thats because the market can bear less people in the UK would rather starve than not have sky as you would know should you ever come here. Every council house has a sky box yet the same people are going to foodbanks. You are more out of touch than I thought

They do not charge more because there is less demand at a higher price, that's all. What exactly is your point?

Very well said and as a supporter of liberal capitalism of Margaret Thatcher, I would have thought SP would understand the concept as the market is the closest thing to fairness in that system.

It is the market less demand lower price - simple

Exactly, but the demand also depends on the disposable income and price of substitutes.

Marko / Vish one of the guys I know, a Manchester United fan he is a director has a very good job spends maybe £3 to £4k on United a year. He goes on vacation once or twice a year to America / South Africa etc. He also likes NFL which he picked up interest in the states he knows all the players all the teams all the rules and supports some NFL team whose name escapes me. Here in the UK he pays for some top up sports package about £10 a month or so and sees lots of the games I have no doubt if you compared it to what the Americans paid he would be getting a far better deal and paying much less.

Why ?

Because NFL is an American sport and although popular here in the UK and many watch it is far less so than in America so Sky cant charge as much.

Even though my mate earns a good salary is very well off I am very confident if sky asked my mate to pay £50 he would tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Indeed, the demand for NFL is lower in UK, so what's your point?

The premiership in the USA vish I would think is not as popular as the NFL I would think in America if you wanted the prem package vs the NFL the NFL would be more expensive because the cable companies are able to charge a higher price because the demand is higher. Just the same as it's more expensive to watch Liverpool than tranmere even though they are in the same city. I am sure you understand that principle.

In the far east wealth is on a par with or greater than the UK as is America why do they not charge more ? instead they charge less than the UK far less. Thats because the market can bear less because of demand. People in the UK would rather starve than not have sky as you would know should you ever come here. Every council house has a sky box yet the same people are going to foodbanks. If overseas they charged what they do in the UK the sales would plument irrespective of income in those countries because essentially its english teams that will never compete with their own sports or teams. That stands to reason

Right. Firstly it seems you are in dire need of a geography lesson. Secondly, following your newly acquired knowledge, it seems you are need of a reality check.

Let me begin,

The countries which are generally included under the term "Far East" are China, Hong Kong, Brunei, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, the far east of Russia, Mongolia, Japan, Taiwan, North and South Korea, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand etc. That should clue you up on what "The Far east" refers to.

Now, to the reality check.

YOu say in the far East, wealth is on par or greater than in the UK.
[img:center][/img]

In green you have the Far east countries which are comparable, in yellow those which have approximately a quarter or less of the monthly income of the UK and in red those which have shockingly low average monthly income figures.

Now, to suggest that the far east has a wealth comparable or even greater than the UK, as you did, is not only incorrect, it is uneducated and beyong any comprehension.

If you want to enter a debate and try and give a reasoned argument, please, refrain from posting utter bullshitt. I have no problems with opposing views, I have a problem with you trying to talk your way through an argument by passing a wild uneducated guess off as fact.

I have already suggested once that you put a bit more effort and research into your posts so that your arghuments would have some more credibility. Like this, when one post after the other is proven to be nothing more than the product of your imaination, they lack any credibility whatsoever.

This still has nothing to do with the original argument about price differences in Serbia and England and Mauritius for tv subscriptions. Of course a sports popularity has an influence, you don't get dedicated curling chanells though do you, or dedicated underwater hockey chanels. You get dedicated football channels because the demand is there and the popularity is there. The demand will be influenced by popularity and in turn the price too but make no mistake, the average monthly income and buying power of the population has a mu8ch much much bigger influence on the price than the popularity of the EPL does. The EPL is THE MOST POPULAR league in the world, by a country mile and in the case of the EPL, popularity of the sport is not really a factor which considerably influences the price.

By Far East I mean the wealthier countries Singapore etc but in any case compare America vs the uk do you think the demand for the English premiership us higher than for the bundesliga in Germany ? Of course it isn't but you can still watch it in Germany but it's likely yo be cheaper than the uk because less demand. Why do you think tranmere us cheaper than Liverpool FC even though they are about 8 miles distant marko ? Might it be there us greater demand for Liverpool FC or is it because tranmere is poorer ?

I am sorry you are being ridiculous now
