pure demand will force a change of policy at some point, probably when the tv money starts to go backwards. more and more people are starting to have satellites installed that can pick up foreign TV stations. Some pubs around my town have live football shown at 3.00pm Saturdays. They do round near me but there are some right clowns in the pubs in the afternoons thats your only problem. But yes worth looking into I am sick of being fleeced I have a quote for £200 to install the dish and box, not sure if I need to subscribe to any stations though?

It's slightly unfair comparing fes for Cable or sattelite TV subscriptions without comparing the average incomes for Mauritius and England. I pay the equivalent of 25 pounds/month for all the EPL games. However in Serbia the average monthly income is around 250/300 pounds so thats 10% of the average monthly income of a Serbian person.
I have been told the average income in England is around 2000 pounds/month so £55 equates to just under 3% of that.
I believe in Mauritius the average monthly income is around £1000...so £50 is around 5% of the average income.
So, it is actually more expensive for the average person from Mauritius or Serbia. This doesn't mean UK based customers are not being taken advantage of though, i mean if they can make a profit from me by charging £25 a month there is no reason other than their greed to charge you double that.

Premiership football clubs dont care what you earn Marko Liverpool is quite a poor city some areas the most depreived in the EU but that does not stop Liverpool FC being one of the most expensive clubs to follow in the UK. We are double the price of man city. I am sorry thaty argument does not work for me

I didnt mention the club, i was speaking about BT and Sky...didnt mention match tickets but TV subscriptions. As i understand, each club in the PL recieves an equal share od the TV income, so the location of the club makes no difference to their TV revenue.
My point was just putting into perspective why the subscription fee in the UK is double what it is in Serbia. It makes perfect sense. I cant buy the fact that you don't understand my point, i think its more a case of you don't want understand it.

So what you appear to be saying to me us because it's poorer in Serbia than the uk (don't believe all you read) sky should be cheaper ? Taking that a stage further should sky be cheaper in say toxteth rather than say oxford in the uk ? If not why not ? We are all buying the same product why should it be price differential according to circumstances of the individual and who and how do they work it out. The truth is sky is less expensive because there is less demand and the market can take it. If you think sky have a social conscience then you are more out of touch than i assumed

And the reason there is less demand is because the average income is lower and percentage of the monthly wage higher, not because the EPL is less popular here. Not as many people can afford it here.
Yes sky should be cheaper in regions with a lower average income, but i believe the rates are set at the national level, not local.
Do you feel the poor rice farmer in China should pay £55 for the PL despite the fact his daily earnings are the equivalent of 2 dollars? Way to run a business. You would have no no customers left. Sky and BT will charge what the people are willing to pay and can afford to pay. The moment you stop paying and subscription numbers go down, so to will the prices.
Again, basic economics. For a retired accountant you don't seem too clued up on how this demand and supply thing works.

In the far east wealth is on a par with or greater than the UK as is America why do they not charge more ? instead they charge less than the UK far less. Thats because the market can bear less because of demand. People in the UK would rather starve than not have sky as you would know should you ever come here. Every council house has a sky box yet the same people are going to foodbanks. If overseas they charged what they do in the UK the sales would plument irrespective of income in those countries because essentially its english teams that will never compete with their own sports or teams. That stands to reason

Very well said and as a supporter of liberal capitalism of Margaret Thatcher, I would have thought SP would understand the concept as the market is the closest thing to fairness in that system.
