In the debate on the stadium the "no new stadium" crowd their entire argument was financial / budget / economic is that all this is about ? Surely as fans emotion and oride has a place too ? We are seeing all our rivals including lowly Everton having purpose build modern stadiums is this not more than just money and john Henry's allocated budget ? That should not be our priority or our focus

that's just photo off google Stan, my point being that I would put my house on the fact that everton will have done nothing by this time in 5 years.

I'd base it on Emirates because it's more recent than Etihad, also couldn't check the Etihad costs.

The eithad was built in 2002 emirates in 2005 all information on the web for both. You are getting desperate now this argument is about you defending your position no matter how overwhelming the evidence you would never agree to so new stadium. Partly your pride and partly because you don't care because you would never (or rarely) visit the stadium is not of interest to you. But a stadium is vital to the future of a club. City and probably eventually Everton will have magnificent stadiums build for £200m or less. It is simply lunacy to spend £150m on developing just two stands at anfield and I am sure once again it's Henry penny pinching just as he is doing with transfers we won't win with this guy the sooner he goes the better for all of us wherever and how you watch Liverpool

I thought 2005 was after 2002 therefore later, my mistake. As I said, let's the new ground host the first game or at least the construction start to see how real all this is. That said, if it is true that a expandable 55k seater can cost 200m, then redevelopment for 150m for about the same seat capacity doesn't make sense and that's not even much more profits for FSG.

Yes there is pride involved, and i will not be happy if Everton get a new stadium and we don't, but not outstanding if it means we would have to spend beyond our means. I might take pride in my appearance, want to wear a Versace suit, but if it means i cant feed my family, I'll buy a suit at M&S instead. Sometimes one has to swallow their pride and get their priorities straight for the greater good.

Vish you said recently we should spend less on the stadium to invest in players do you really think that's going to happen or we will just carry on spending what we have to, to maintain our present status e.g champions league qualification of thereabouts ? I really can't can't Henry breaking the bank to get star players to win the title in even if we spent nothing at all on the stadium. Whereas I think moores would have done I know he had his critics none more than me but he was a genuine Liverpool fan.

It's not about breaking the bank by FSG but spending what we can afford to, according to FFP. We have accumulated losses of close to 100m over the two years before the last Fin Year, and we will need to have made a profit in the last Fin Year and a profit this year in order to avoid being penalised by UEFA. If you want us to break the bank as you say, we will end up being in the same situation as City who were fined and were constrained to buy.

However, if as Vish has said, Everton do build a new stadium of a 55k capacity for circa 200mil, serious questions need to be asked of LFC, FSG and John Henry.

Questions is all well and good, but they will be questions people have been asking way before our rivals inevitably leave us behind. I was all for a new stadium, I'd much prefer a new stadium to Anfield redevelopment. I understand however that FSG cant afford it, and an owner who can just isnt out there at the moment. I was looking forward to seeing what they would do with Anfield... until I seen the concept pictures. It looks awful. The only way I'd be truly happy with an Anfield redevelopment is if it was PROPERLY modernised, and safe standing was implemented allowing more capacity in the same space without making the fans extremely uncomfortable. This would allow more affordable tickets for the real rabble rousing fans rather than the prawn sandwich, corporate passenger brigade who are just there to experience the atmosphere rather than contribute to it.

Let's see if that new stadium building starts first, we have been planning for the better part of 2 decades, so will probably be the same for the Blue Noses
