Of all the players you listed, only Cavani, Falcao, Volland, Lukaku and Higuain are proper strikers.

We attempted to thrash out deals for Cavani and Falcao, not happening it seems.

Lukaku is a target man, not really much pace about him and i genuinely don't think he would suit our style.

Volland is top notch but still young and unproven at top level.

Higuain only recently moved to Napoli and i doubt Rafa would let him go and even if he did, Higuain doesn't really excite me as a player. I don't know why, he scores goals, but is so boring to watch.

Ballotelli is a fantastic player, these comments about him being lazy are not true IMO, he plays the full 90 minutes. He scores goals, has pace and is exciting to watch, seems a good fit for us IMO.

another point, falcao who hasn't played for 7 months would probably of cost us around the same fee for a loan deal for the one season. if that deal didn't work out then it would have been a very expensive risk considering the player has been out for so long and nobody knows how he'll cope in the premier league. balotelli has got premier league experience and if it all goes tits up with at least we'll be able to sell him on and recoup some of the fee we payed for him

As far as not paying the going rate for top strikers, the rumours are Falcao wanted wages of 200k and Monaco wanted a 12 million loan fee. It would be idiotic to pay that much in wages and loan fees if Ballotelli is available for 17mil. Also i don't want us handing out wages of 200k to players before they prove themselves on the pitch for LIVERPOOL. I wouldn't give Mess I 200k wages until he proves himself for Livsrpool, on the pitch!

I don’t like those inflated wage’s either, nor the 12m loan demand (though if the 12m came off the transfer fee when signing him next season, as reported, then it would be ok for me) however for the quality level we’re targeting, that’s where the market rate is at these days, whether we like it or not. The question is; why are we targeting these players when we already know the market rates? Why spend weeks of the window chasing what you know you will refuse to buy?

I completely agree with the second paragraph but the bit in bold, I cannot agree with. Balotelli's attitude & work ethic go completely against the team and philosophy Rodgers has built so far, we've seen him sign players who work hard for the team and press the ball at all times, Balotelli often does none of those things. Balotelli is however still young and would retain a resale value, that sounds very typical of the FSG model to me.

I don't understand where these stories about his work ethic come from. Every manager he has ever played for has said he is a top trainer and hard worker and a great footballer but that he needs to learn to control his "off the pitch" antics and his aggression. I think a lot of people are judging him by his playing days for city. Remember, he played under Mancini who is a very defense minded manager. Perhaps i am being too subjective bug i always felt Mancini was a bit of a [oops], much like Mourinho only not as good. When the manager sets up the team defensively and tells Mario to hang up front and wait for the counter, of course he will appear lazy, but in actual fact he is following the managers instructions.

I think we could see an even better goal return from Mario in our setup, which could be amazing seeing his current goal ratio is near 1 in 2.

You've done the lazy thing there Marko and simply brushed aside the fact that neither of us out professionals at scouting players. I'm sure if I was paid all year round to find and scout out players, I could come up with a definitive list as long as your arm of strikers better suited than Mario Balotelli. Also, I stated not all of them are out and out strikers but all of them are goal scoring forwards that I (simply my opinion) would prefer over Balotelli.

If you think that the comments about Balotelli's laziness are unfounded then I'd question just how well you know the player, he most certainly has similarities to Berbatov in that regard.

I've not followed him at all since he has been in Italy and it might be the case that he has matured as a player and I truly hope it is. He is capable of being a fantastic player, I wouldn't disagree with that.

I agree I am not in support of buying him but remember united with cantona he was the idiot (for worse than balotelli) but united was the club for him and he grew up (albeit with the odd karatti kick). No one canm deny balotelli has talent its just his flaws and like I say it depends on the contract. If it works it could make the difference title or no title
was cantona lazy or more of a team player?
