Unfortunate, but then, no surgery required and he will be back relatively quickly for a knee injury. Anyway we have 4 players with Lallana, Markovic, Coutinho and Sterling to play in 2 or 3 positions depending on who you play in centre midfield so we should be able to cope. You could even add Ibe who could add to that position, so we should be ok, anyway, we are adding to the squad to have depth basically to cope with such situations.

Give him chance to sit down to do some soul searching regarding the far more serious facial fungus fiasco situation, and hopefully act accordingly. eek

Well Lallana plays wide attacking midfield

So based on the current squad we options we have for that position are Sterling, Ibe, Markovic, Coutinho, even Sturridge if we put Lambert up top.

Bearing in mind Remy is coming in too, that's more than enough cover.

Adam Lallana: I’m lucky after my heart hell
SOUTHAMPTON ace Adam Lallana goes into the Premier League season counting his blessings.

Adam Lallana had a heart scare
When you recall what has happened to Bolton player Fabrice Muamba, I realise how lucky I am
Adam Lallana
A heart scare at the age of 18 could have finished his career before it started.

“When you recall what has happened to Bolton player Fabrice Muamba, I realise how lucky I am,” said Lallana, whose heart scare was detected when a training monitor brought up an irregular beat.

Recalling the time, he told the Daily Star Sunday: “It was a dark period of my life, scary. I had an operation that decided which way my career went. There was an element of risk. Thankfully I am here today, fit and healthy.
“Fabrice wasn’t so lucky but at least it has made us all aware and I regularly have my heart monitored.

“When anyone talks about your heart, the panic button starts ringing a bit. I had some hard times but I had good people around me who all helped out.”

Overcoming the odds has become a trademark for Lallana – high on the wanted list of top clubs, with Everton reportedly very keen.
He is still only 24 but in his short career he has already played in an FA Cup Final, sampled European football and a top-ten Premier League finish, followed by the turmoil of two relegations, administration and a revolving door of ten managers and five chairmen..... and an England Under-21s call-up.
He has also seen his close friends Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain move on to top clubs.

Lallana added: “It’ll be nice to look them in the eye at last. But they all had that X Factor and it was no surprise really.

“Some have said I might have gone too but Southampton suits me.
“Our Premier League return makes up for everything that has gone before. We’ve got Arsenal and Man United after City and this is what I have wanted.

“I started here at 12 and this is what I have dreamed about.”

Let's just hope he returns quicker than the estimate. I actually think he would have started and see it as a rotten bit of luck.
