Under FSG Liverpool are clearly a low to moderate ambition club if we had big plans then a player of his statute might be interested in being a part of it but we dont.

So he is off and I cant blame him, I would too in his shoes.

Ronaldo left United for Real Madrid, Mc Manaman and Owen who were boyhood LFC fans also left to go to Spain. Real Madrid and Barca are bigger than LFC or any other club for the matter, FSG or anybody else will not be able to change this until tv rights in Spain is distributed more evenly.

They have the lion share of tv rights which makes a huge difference.

I remember a couple of articles like that when he signed. Couldn't see him moving to Real Madrid. But the chance to play for a team in the city where his wife's family stay and for a team as big as Barcelona was something he was never turning down.

Them and Madrid so that guarantees they make the most money and afford the talent and Champions League football almost always. A two horse race the Spanish League. Wonder why footballers go to either of these two teams for a 'new challenge'. They probably join either of these clubs because its just generally easier. The EPL is far more challenging.

The Spanish league is not poor though because there is a huge pool of good/top Spanish speaking players (Spain and Latin America) and 2 clubs that can buy any player in the world. 3 of the European club finalists were Spanish last season, says a lot.

Since 2004, Valencia, Atletico, Real, and Barca have won a league title. Since 2004, City, United, and Chelsea, and Arsenal have won the league. So by that logic, their league is equally competitive. They've had 4 different winners, and the prem has had 4.

Arsenal once and City twice. Other than that it's all United and Chelsea.

It's may be less competitive for the title but not poor because it has better players overall.

It isn't less competitive. 4 teams have won it in the past 10 years, same as the prem.

In the Spanish League, clubs are permitted to negotiate their own deals privately with the broadcasting companies without sharing revenue, with the likes of Real and Barcelona garnering much larger audiences which effectively allows them to demand around a 50% share of the cash designated for the whole league. This financial advantage translates to the ability to invest in not merely better players but world class players which is certainly an advantage over the competition. Since 1980, the La Liga have been won the following amount of times by these respective clubs:

Barcelona 13
Real Madrid 12
Athletic Bilbao 2
Atlético Madrid 2
Valencia 2
