I think all the reactions are a bit over the top, really. This is a very talented brazil team. Is it anywhere near some of the previous Brazilian winners? No, but they are still very strong. Spain, Germany, and Argentina are the teams to beat, I think, but just because their first game is a little slow and there's a questionable pen that all of a sudden the cup is fixed and Brazil are dross.

As I said weeks ago, Brazil will win the world cup because they have the best squad and the best manager. Some of the comments on here are ridiculous, Brazil won 3-1 last night without stepping out of 1st gear, not because of a dodgy referee or cheating or whatever other [oops] some of you come out with whenever you don't like a result. they won exactly because of a dodgy ref, not sure what game u were watching. Brazil are nowhere near the best squad and big phil is nowhere near the best manager. Any manager that can pick luiz,hulk and fred out of all the brazilians in the world would imo be classed as an idiot of a manager

I agree, they aren't the best squad in the tournament, but they are quite strong.

strong thats an ugly word for a brazil team. I would put them down as maybe 8th best in the tournie ..they need refs to progress.

"Fix" is the wrong word - it implies that both teams were in on determining the outcome. What we have is favourite country bias - where the refs give them the advantage at the first opportunity. Although FIFA wants Brazil to win - I'm sure they don't want the whole world talking about the ref after the opening match. That Japanese ref won't be back - but others will make similar decisions. Valid goal not given to Mexico as linesman waves offside wrongly. Fixed also? Don't think so, it's all about bad refereeing decisions which is going to continue until technology is introduced.
