World cup 2014! I know that it's not the prem, but I'm really excited to see the first match today. I'm surprised that there isn't another thread on this. Is no one else excited?

Me too

You cant beat the world cup. I was around when England won the world cup in 66 I can remember but mainly the cartoon Lion "world cup willie" that promoted it then and to a child thats what was important.

To be honest nothing would be (as an adult) seeing my nation win the world cup it would surpass even Istanbul. I know lots of english people will say rubbish I prefer my club but I dont think you are being honest if England got to the final the whole country would grind to a halt. And I dont care what team you support or who you are you would be glued to that screen in the final.

Yes I know its unlikely but we can dream.

I predict a riot, at least 2 murders, some kind of player drug scandal and Argentina to ruin Brazil's party!

I remember it like it was yesterday when it was here in South Africa, no greater feeling too c all your favourite players live in action. Fifa reckons we set the bar very high as hosts.

Something to watch I suppose.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

That might suit us I would have thought we are better used to rough pitches with our weather
