The handle on my LFC mug broke off last week Anne. Thats a bad omen lumba, my old aunt Fanny used to read the teacups, and if I’d ever offer her my favourite mug with a broken handle to read my fortune, she’d shy away like a frightened colt saying; 'no, no, no, never drink from a mug with a broken handle it’s bad luck’ I don’t know what she ever seen in those tealeaves as I always managed to win sixpence from her on match day’s!

Moores sold out because he did not have the funds to take the club forward albeit he was a very rich man. He also was a majority shareholder. Ok his commercial sense was not the greatest let's say.
But in terms of financial muscle I don't think we have achieved significantly more with either of the two American owners since moores in fact we seem to have slightly gone backwards.
Now of course you could say we now have greater marketing and commercial expertise and so we do. However that could also gave been achieved with the right management team around moores. It certainly would have been more agile decision making than we have seen since FSG took over.
Other than the odd sponsorship deal (which you could argue we could have got anyway) what have we really achieved ?
The ground redevelopment I am sure we could have done with moores and done it ten years earlier. Commercial development is a moot point.
My view is largely since moores sold our we have stood still for almost a decade and the final outcome after all that is largely underwhelming Interesting post Stanley. Imo Moores let the grass grow under his feet development wise, in the good years including some poor manager appointments and those two factors in the main led to the downward spiral. He compounded the slide after it started by approving a number of overpriced and bad player signings, including one disaster of a manager appointment. Are FSG any significant improvement? I think the question is about one season or maybe two premature. On the plus side they have steadied the ship financially and are better at that than previous owners. On the stadium they took the cowardly option and that’s a negative. On managerial appointments they took a gamble and got lucky, so using Napoleon’s yardstick that makes them better on that score also. On player signings they’re cowardly, silly and a disaster so far , so that’s a negative for them. They have time to get it right , but the jury has to be out for a season or two imo to see if they do. As things stand they are neither better nor worse than Moores, but they might be luckier, time will tell. In my books Moores is the worst of all our owners by not taking advantage of our dominance and selling to H&G for a few more bobs. You want FSG to just pour money in LFC whether it makes financial sense or not. I wonder what percentage of your earnings do you put in the club. Not much these days sadly, Can’t believe my last trip was 4 years ago, and even when I did make regular journeys over most of my expenditure went on travel, accommodation and the demon booze! So I can’t say I made Moores rich! I do have an Lfc mug and eggcup, though and of course the obligatory jumper and scarf, oh, and I also sleep on a Liverpool pillow slip and under a liverpool quilt. Can you match that vish? I would be close with shirts and cufflinks, I dont really need a quilt. Anyway that's not the point, with so little spent on LFC how can we demand FSG to make financially unsustainable investments as you want them to?

As it happens Anne,it was the Mrs that 'said' it broke off while she was doing the dishes(for once) and i was a bit [oops] off that she just threw it out, as i would probably have kept using it without the handle, but glad i didn't now.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Unfortunately I put about ten per cent of my earnings into the club it's my biggest expenditure after council tax and energy bills I don't earn much these days Well that’s a significant contribution Stanley, and few fans could match, let alone better that. In my humble opinion, that entitles you to have your say on LFC issues with the courtesy of reasoned debate and without undue confrontation. I’m retired and not earning as much as I did either, so my spare cash is directed towards my large’ish family and quite a few grandchildren

Well perhaps when you’re my age you’ll appreciate an LFC quilt. I’m a football fan vish, not an accountant. I want top quality signings, a stadium that’s up with the best, winning or good performances in all competitions, and to remain as proud as I’ve always been of the great club that is LFC. If all that is beyond the business and/or financial competence of FSG, then they shouldn’t be here. LFC has too proud a history of achievement to be brought down to the lowest common denominator represented by FSG, and their lack of ambition and financial resources, and by the way, I think it’s more a case of financial cowardice than financial resources.

Wise woman that, maybe she’s into the tealeaves thing herself since she threw it away so quickly lumba?

When you say they shouldn't be here, what do you mean? I can't see anybody better wanting to take their place, that's the whole point. We were in the market twice but didn't get a rich sugar daddy taking over. That's a fact, whether we like it or not. FSG are business people, not the best that could happen to us, but definitely not the worst as some people make it here. The Gladzers are getting United to pay the debt they took to buy the club, Arsenal owners financed the stadium through debt put on the club. Yes the best owners are Chelsea, City and PSG ones as they are acting as true fans putting in their own money (for whatever reasons) but they got lucky, not us.

The commercial opportunities back then to present day are worlds apart ! therefore it's an unfair argument isn't it ? FSG should be doing better they have better opportunities now than when mores was in control ! Not defending him but that's the truth of it ! ignore it if you like just to argue a point unfairly for cheap kudos! is that LFC fans now ? Of course the commercial revenues compared to today were world apart but we are talking in relative terms. We were the best team in Uk and among the top 5 in the world, how is it that United made giant strides and ended up better revenue wise than us and even financed the extention of their stadium? They just had better directors/managers/owners than us.

Transfers were cheaper, construction was cheaper and the environment was less competitive. Yet we have still moved forward more now under FSG in a more competitive and testing environment than we did back then. If you are gonna criticise others, please take your own advice and take all the factors into consideration. This is not a go at you sixties. Yes i agree there are more opportunities now, but there are also more sugar daddy's and the opportunities that are presented to LFC are also presented to other clubs, but for once, we are actually taking advantage of them.

We can though, because there are common factors. For example the percentage of commercial opportunities taken.
