if he's a genuine target and will come at a cheaper price than january with less time remaining on his contract then would it not make sense to go for him. especially if spurs join the chase for him.

agree though that we should capitalise on champions league qualification if we make it. when city finally made it they had the chance to bring in the bigger names like aguero and we should follow suit. i know we won't have the cash to bring in someone similar but at least there will be a bigger pull for all of the bigger names we've lost out on in the recent past

With Spurs apparently ready to match our bid, don't think he will come cheaper. His owner for sure will sell to the highest bidder.

or we bid the same and make the player choose. He's said already that he prefers us.

I'd get:

Bender 20mil
Xhaka 15mil
Taylor 12mil
Kono 15mil

I read some time ago that his contract has a buyout clause of €10m this summer to a CL team only, if true spurs won't be a problem.

Specifically the midfield and the full back positions.
Means nothing, really. Will Fulham win the league in a couple o seasons from now just because they're top of the under 21 league?

No, but our U21 players are a lot less likely to be poached by bigger teams, so if they're good, we can expect to see them play for the first team in the future.
