with the same coach, the same players except alonso, we managed to break our own premier league record tally. With Dossena

We managed to get to 2nd. We have had great runs the champions league. We only lost two games all of last season.

Overnight a coach cant become useless, the players cant fall to a poor level in one season.

In my opinion, we started the season poorly. In the first three games we already lost the same amount of games we lost all of last season (Spurs & Villa). We never got the momentum we needed. Injuries added to the stuttering form, poor luck, namely beachball, johnsons own goal). The doctors assessment of aqulani return date was too optimistic, that meant he started later than expected, this resulted in a gap in quality to replace alonso.

Players confidence was shattered because of the poor start, no momentum.

The champions league, we defended poorly, had we defended better, not conceded late goals, we would have gone through. (Given the past success and performance in the champ league, i can forgive the team and manager for this one poor season in europe).

The axis of Stevie, fernando wasnt functioning the way it did last season, due to injuries to each of them at different stages of the season. and even when they did return, they took a few games to get into drive. Johnsons injury added to the problems.

Lucas is clearly no good, but he aint the sole cause of all teh problems. Rafa substitutions are too late in my opinion, but that cant be the sole reason for the state we find ourselves in.

Im all for youth getting a run in the team, but given the coaches comment this week "Player confidence is shot", i think it would be foolish to throw a youngster into the 1st team, when the 1st team is lacking confidence. A youngster needs the senior guys to help him gain confidence, gain experience. The team at the moment will blow a kid down.

So given teh fact, Masherano, Reina are ready to pen new deals, i dont think there is any chance of rafa being sacked. anther factor is that the clubs budget doesnt incude the revenue to the 2nd round of europe, in that sense we aint in trouble.

However failure to make 4th will be a blow, but maybe a blessng is disguise.

The coaches rotation of players and subs have been discussed from his 1st season, some days it works, other days it doesnt.

I wait for this season to end, and start fresh next season:)

just my opinion:)

I can see both sides of the argument but I have to go with emp here. And in my opinion, if confidence is shot, we shouldn't be playing not to loose! Games like Wigan should have been used to get our confidence back by kicking their arse like we did to Pompey.

whatever we look like playing, the bottom line is we playing crap.

Carra has had a season from hell, his form has been so so unlike a legend that we know, it has been the whole season.

of couse late goals cost us in europe, we were heading through until we let them score.

Then we blame zonal marking? we had great success with zonal marking and without zonal marking.

playing for lfc brings much more pressure, cos of the demand for number 19. if you start poorly, im afriad teh pressure becomes unbearable, and players function poorly.

if you are out of the title race by november, and you play for LFC in my view, you got no drive or motivation to play.

anger and frustration amongst fans because united are heading for 19. Is a very huurtful thing to take for any true LFC fan. Credit must be given to the mancs for having the determination to break our record. But because things dont go teh way we want it to go, every game we start with teh coach.

I cant see how we can blame the coach for loosing to the mancs, had torres and Benayoun taken teh chances, we would have won.
2ndly you cant expect to go to trafford and win every year, and the same can be said of teh mancs, they cannot come to anfield and expect to win.

its a problem much deeper than team selections and late subs in my opinion.

this is rafa's 1st season in charge of total football. He wanted this, so lets se what happens:)

i cant imagine lucas too. for sure

check ut what our own star has to say about what the club needs, arguably our best player:)...

"My place is at Liverpool, and in England. I've still got three years to run on my contract."

However, the 26-year-old added: "The most important thing is for the club is to try and sign quality players."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/8590720.stm

i know he wont say openly that we need to change the coach. He is a great player, if he wanted, he could join any other club with any other coach:)

i realy dont care who is in charge next season my brother, but if we analyse the situation, if the problem is Rafa, if we assume the problem in rafa, then if we remove rafa does that mean problem solved? does that mean we will win the title?

im my view rafa is not the sole reason we are in a slump.

From teh looks of things, it is clear that rafa will be around next year. I cant see anyone else replacing him.

Cos rafa is not the problem, some of his choices are a a problem.

against wigan, sundrland, i dont buy the story that he didnt pick the best team, if you play for liverpool, any team you set out against wigan should be good enough to beat wigan.
