Don't for one minute kid yourselves that he dreamed of coming here. He would have gone to the best financial package for himself and his agents. And thats what happened. He's now gone from a star playing week in week out to a much higher paid bench warmer.

Yes we [oops] him about and our first offer should have been much higher but I'm glad we don't pay stupid money for these players. We don't have the money of Chelsea, City etc. so we have to go in low initially (too low most times) which never puts us in a strong position.

Things have to change though or we'll be starting next season with the same squad.

There is a middle ground that we need to come closer to but I generally agree with the principle of setting a value for a player and not going above it.

We do need to speed up negotiations though as if we are sticking to a value, we need to reach the max that we are willing to pay and see if that is accepted before another team comes in and outbids us

But we were ready to pay that kind of money for our 2nd choice...penny wise, pound foolish it would have been, just as it has been for a number of players we have bought, but have been shipped out on loan or hardly play. Won't it be better to pay a bit more for a player who would improve the team instead of taking chances? Alberto, Aspas and Ilori cost us 20m or so, what the [oops] have they added to the first team, almost nothing. Some would say they are for the future, but, the priority is not for the future and you can never know how a young player will develop.

Aspas was not one for the future.

I like the idea of buying future players as well but I think buying 2 in the same window at the combined cost was the wrong choice. Setting aside 3-5 mil a year for good future prospects would not be a bad idea in my opinion.

the IBTIMES is obviously a reliable football rumour/transfer dealings website now.

there are loads of quotation marks with no actual reference to anyone.

im glad we didnt bid £15mil + add ons for a guy who was playing in Egypt 2 years ago.

FSG have had their hands burnt by the last set of transfers and the early BR ones, id rather an owner be a bit frugal than bankrupt us and leave.

Salah will be the new De Bruyne and will be gone in 2 years.

No Aspas was not for the future and he doesn't look for the present neither. Would have been better to use the 20m on a proven top player istead of taking chances on 3 players for the same fee. This is what I call penny wise pound foolish.

How have they been burnt compared to when (the committee) took responsibility of transfer dealings?
