Let's say qualification for CL means 40m and to get there we need to spend 30m and keep Suarez in the summer. That leaves us with 10m positive. If we do qualify without buying anybody, it would mean 40m positive. If we do not qualify we will sell Suarez for 70 and say we use 50m for his replacement, meaning 20 positive. So what do they do? Short term it's clear what is to be done in financial terms, long term is uncertain though.

Spurs is level on points with us now, the team we beat 5 nil away and won't be surprised if Everton overtakes us tomorrow. I think 4th is impossible if we do not reinforce the midfield.

I said on this thread prior to yesterdays debacle, that I thought 6th was as good as we can get, if we don’t sign some quality in this window. I would still be saying it even if we’d won yesterday, and for the same reasons I gave, and when I posted that I fully expected us to beat Villa. This squad as it currently stands can and does beat mid to low table teams, but it is simply not a top 4 squad.
Henry must have realised that yesterday regardless of how much or how little he knows about football. However the question is: will he finance a couple of top quality players? Or is he sticking with the silly policy?
