to win the league would probably need something around 85 points this season. Liverpool would need 43 to get to that total and I don't know if thats realistic in 17 games for us to only drop 8 points. I think 30 points for top 4 is a lot more realistic and achievable Even for top 4 I think we need a better proposition than Lucas.

u'd wonder why we don't sign that midfield player.like its no secret is it..city and chelsea matches clearly showed we lack that power in there, even swansea away showed it. if we got it we could win the title , why not spend the cash..there is loads of players available .ok jan u might need to spend a bit more but if it got u a title it surely be worth it.

Quality players costs that extra £££
Over average players
One or two quality players ( rakatic , salah ) right signings this month, will make us title contenders, not fighting for 4 th spot no more
Look wat ozil signing has done to arsenal

I predicted fourth based on the fact that we have 42 points and 17 games left, of which we should win 10, taking us to 72 points. Add to that 3 or 4 points from drawn games and we should be home and dry. 75 points should be enough for fourth place. A lot will depend on how our suitors (Everton, Spurs and United)will perform from now till the end of the season. Buying well in January will only add to our chances.

I fear we cannot do better than the fast half of the season when we finished with 36 pts because our squad is thin and it will get harder at the end of the season after playing a lot of games. With no reinforcement, I see us finishing 5th especially if United and Spurs get knocked out of Europe early.

I think of all the English teams in Europe, United and Spurs will go the furthest. United should beat Olympiacos and Spurs have to be in with a shout in the Europa. Every extra game they play is a bonus. We should still have the guts of a week between most games so fatigue shouldn't be as bad. You only have to look at how Everton finished seasons strongly under Moyes to see that the lack of Europe is a huge bonus this season

In any case it will be very difficult to sign a second Suarez so we definitely need to improve our defensive game plan with a better DM than Leiva.
