I'm not trying to get caught up in the hype, but you got to admit, we're doing pretty well! I now have faith that we will go into games and win, we have been playing that well.
But the interesting thing is, since Gerrard has been out, we have had Allen, Hendo and Lucas in and I have to admit, our midfield is the best it's been in a few seasons. We have been dominating midfield, passing really well and in general, they have stepped up much more than I expected.
Allen has been very good, passing the ball well, putting pressure on oppositions defense, linking up play and just standing up and playing well.
Hendo has been assisting goals and setting play up so well. Against Cardiff, he was actually great, he was tearing apart their defense, and even when they were trying to keep it tight, they couldn't handle the pleasure that we were applying , and that was a huge part because of Hendo.
Lucas seems to be much more comfortable, and giving away no free kicks too. I thinks it because him and Allen are working well together and helping each other out, keeping good positions and moving the ball very well for the most part.
So, what do we do when Gerrard comes back? Yeah the midfield have stepped up as required thus far and surprised a few of us, so I wouldn’t change anything there until we see how they conduct themselves against a good side such as City are. I don’t see any problems for Gerrard or Sturridge when they return as I recon Rodgers will revert to pretty much the same 1st eleven he was playing before they were injured, but now with the option of some rotation.

he's no long term solution, but if we could get xabi alonso at cut price in january that could be a decent stop gap. we will still need a long term, dominant dm though. and not a 'one for the future'. someone in their prime who can go into the first 11 now.

I seem to remember everyone saying that spurs midfield was class last week, but now we've beaten them they get classed as average Too true! I find the double-standard quite irksome &, it is oft applied to LFC -- i.e. in the run-up to these four games many said we'd only beat Cardiff (maybe!?!) & that anything more than 4-5 pts. was a godsend. Fast forward & we're sitting at 6 already. Considering Aguero being out, & the notion we played good enough to win at the Etihad last year, we could easily draw there if not win. Chelsea, who knows... but another draw is certainly not out of the question. However, once we beat City @the Etihad the new line will be, "... City missed Aguero...". Just wait for it.

Yeah...another question, is Zabaleta also missing for the game against us or his he back? Why did he miss the Fulham game, injury or suspension?

He's injured, but don't know if he'll be back for the Liverpool game.

Hmm...he would be a big miss for them too...not in defence so much, but in attack. He is invovled in almost all of their build up play down the right flank and is a very offensive wingback. If they are without him, I suspect, we could see Sterling playing on the left hand side of our midfield, having a go at whoever covers for him. I suspect that would be Milner.

Here's what they say about Zabaleta on the official EPL site: "Hamstring injury - Expected back 26 Dec".
Will be interesting to see whether that's a good prediction or not.
