Surely you don't begrudge him wanting to prove to you that he's world class by going to a 'big' club?
That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

His form and attitude this season has been spot on and your going on about a pre season tour, clutching at straws a bit now. no I dont think so actualy, I will ask you this, given the type of person Suarez is and we know he is a Liar, how taken in are you by that apology he issued before the start of the season, do you believe it. You can either look at it from two ways, firstly that he meant it and he made a mistake, wants to knuckle down and really stay at the Club or secondly, he was bang to rights with his contract, could'nt get out of it to sign for Arsenal, sat down with the club and thrashed out a compromise in that he would apologise, knuckle down, try to get the lub into a mythical champions league place and be allowed to move in a cut price deal in January or Summer regardless, I happen to think it wa the second myself. Sure, FSG can't wait to sell their biggest asset at a "cut price" deal.

To be fair, I dont think Suarez would make a good captain anyways. Just because a player is world class and is determined to win....doesnt necessarily make him a good leader...as illogical as it may sound. Also, I can kinda see Cool's point on this (for once!), I'm still not going to forget how Suarez treated us in the summer...so to give him the armband, no matter how good he is, seems a little bit wrong to me. Although his attempt to jump ship hurt,i think we need to stay focused on the reasons why a top player wants to leave us. I agree, this is the MAJOR PROBLEM WE HAVE. But is it not simple enough to solve Ninja? Suarez said he wanted to play for a club that plays in the CL, and that he stated that LFC didn’t have the resources to break into the CL places. By this he obviously meant we wouldn’t be able to sign players of sufficient quality to do so. Given that FSG clearly do have the resources (if not the will) There should be no “major problem we have”. FSG needs to drop the silly policy of signing cheapie hopefuls, and invest in a couple of proven quality players for the obvious positions. If they don’t, we could be back to losing our best player/s again next summer, and still no Champions League qualification.

Hold on though, We are looking good at the moment and I don't remember LS saying LFC don't have the means to break into the CL. He said he wanted to play CL footie, which is something we couldn't offer this season, but who is to say we won't be able to offer it next season?
