They were fabulous. That team should have won the league. Yep also think so or if we would have bought Schneider from Real after selling Alonso...instead of an injured Aquilani. This is my main contention when it comes to Rafa, Gerrard should have been moved in Alonso's position and Schnieder in Gerrard's, just behind Torres. We would have won the league the following season, but then, may be the owners then never provided the funds from Alonso's sale as Aquilani's deal was apparently paid over a few years.

The way he left was deceitful. Conspired by his agent no doubt. I think we forget haw players are manipulated by agents. he was awesome for Liverpool and that is how i choose to view the player. Whether he currently plays for Chelsea or Real Madrid or Scunthorpe, i wish him well.
Talk of what could have or should have happened under Raffa's rule are best left as is.
My view is that Raffa is a poor communicator and often made fundamental errors in judgement of player selection and tactics but was too arrogant to learn from his errors. These are critical elements in being a successful manager.

I don't see how. 6 months before he left he was disillusioned and said that we needed 4 or 5 top players in order to be competitive (ie in order for him to stay at LFC.) And what did we do? ..............We employed roy hodgson, sold Mascherano, and the 'top 4 or 5 players' turned out to be konchesky, cole, poulsen, meirelles and a crippled fabio aurelio!!! That ain't my idea of signing top players to win things and it clearly wasn't Nando's either. No one can blame him for wanting out if that was our efforts at improving the team. Just because he wanted to leave, it doesn't mean that we had to sell him (Suarez? Rooney?). It was shockingly poor management on our part to accept an offer for him with transfer window half shut. It was even more ridiculous that we then replaced him with an injured donkey for 10x his worth.

We can't just hate any player who leaves the club. With a few exceptions, footballers do not spend their whole careers in one club.

Totally agree that selling Torres that close to the end of the transfer window was total mismanagement and the other mismanagement (to a lesser extent as it was a result of the first mismanagement) was to value Caroll over one very good season he had with Newcastle. In any case we would have paid over the odds for any replacement of Torres as every Tom, Dick and Harry knew we were desperate. Even with Torres we were short of a striker, this is why we bought Suarez then.

Actually, in hindsight, selling Torres so late in the window seems to have been a good move. It raised his price and seeing how his form has dipped since, it seems to have been a masterstroke which got us the maximum fee possible. If he stayed any longer, we would have got a lower fee and i think the same applies if we sold him any earlier.
The mismanagement was spunking the money on Carroll, but as Vish has said, at the time, under the circumstances, we would have had to overpay for any player and had we bought no one, i fear we would have had demonstrations outside Anfield.

Well Marko, nobody knows how Torres would have played in a team with Gerrard and Suarez, yes he has been [oops] since he left LFC, but improved greatly under Rafa+ I don't think we would have bought Caroll if he had stayed, so anyway it ended up being a bad decision.

Suarez and Torres would have been awesome.
Torres made a mistake in moving it was the wrong move. Funny enough I still think he is a decent player and has no long term injury issues its just in his head
