I must admit that I was fed up with him in his last season, probably because i thought we were very close to win the league (having finished 2nd in the previous season) but regressed drastically and also because we bought an injured Aquilani when we had the possibility to choose from Van Der Vaart and Sneider in the Alonso deal. Some would say that they were not defensive midfielders, but, i thought we still had Mascherano and Leiva and Gerrard could also have been moved there. I think we would have won the league if we had brought in Sneider instead of Aquilani. But, I don't know what was happening behind the scenes with H&G
His bad spell at Inter confirmed to me that he had lost it (this can happen out of stress, managers are not super human). It is still early days but it looks like his sabatical did help him to get back, he at least did what was expected of him at Chelsea, may be as a minimum and started strongly at Napoli.
