Following his man of the match performance against Manchester United and assuming Toure isn't available, do we drop Martin Skrtel to accommodate one of Sakho or Ilori? At least one of the new additions presumably is expecting to start regularly at Liverpool.

Personally, I feel it'd be unfair to drop Skrtel next week, especially after he put in a terrific performance against United, obviously staking a claim to not only prolong his Liverpool career but in an attempt to force his way into Brendan Rodgers plans. This obviously creates a bit of a dilemma, with Toure starting so well and the additions of Sakho and Ilori.

So, two simple questions:

A. Would you choose to drop Martin Skrtel against Swansea in favour for Sakho or Ilori?

And

B. What do you see as our strongest centre back pairing as the season progresses?

Cheers Reds! smile

I wouldn't be surprised to see Skrtel end up in Russia by end of the international break

The best partnership as the season progresses could end up being Sahko/Agger but I think as long as Toures there, he will be putting serious pressure on them

Simple phrase.

"Don't fix if it ain't broke!!"

Of course Skittle should play. The back 4 we had against the Mancs is always our best.

BR decided to phuk it up, no one else.

PS, Wisdom is no replacement for Johnson. The Notts County game proved that.

Skittles should be dropped if Toure is fit. If he's not which i very much doubt then yes keep his place but bring on Sahko in the second half to start the transition.

Fantastic we have a wealth of talent to call on and have this dilema though.

Would like to see it in Midfield and also upfront as well.

Competition for places makes players work harder and if they dont they get moved on.

D'ya think we should be selling him Maxi or is that just a measure to ensure first team opportunities for others?

I think if we got 10-12 mil for him I'd sell him. He would still be 3rd at best in my list of centre backs. I would have Toure certainly ahead of him but I'll wait to see Sahko play a few games before I make a serious judgement on him

He had a great game last week but he doesn't look entirely comfortable on the ball and he has been bullied by physical forwards in the past.

I've heard that Ilori can play at right back, anyone know if there's any truth in that?

Very interesting questions. I think Skrtel should play against Swansea just so he can skip the Southamton game and start the man utd cup tie to get Van Persie's milk money again. thats what is going to fund our jan transfers. as for whos our best pairing its still unknown. Technically it could be Sakho and Toure but 't know, We have not seen enough of them. I think all four of them are very close to each other especially because of Skrtel's improvement in the system. yes it was only one game but he looked much better with ball at feet. We already know he can defend well. Oh yea, I know he has not been quite like the rock at the back that we were used to the year Rodgers came in but, we know he is capable of it.

^^^^^Wow this guy knows what he is talking about.^^^^^

Yeah I'd agree with that, he did look much better on the ball last Sunday, perhaps that's something he has been working on since being dropped by Rodgers and I think his performance and professionalism (in not running his mouth to the papers regarding being out of the team) could be rewarded by not dropping him against Swansea.
