I should be less optimistic about it, but just feel like this is a new Liverpool this year. The old Liverpool would have drawn to Villa and Stoke. The old Liverpool would have lost 2-1 to United instead of winning 1-0. There's a graft about these boys I haven't seen in our side in a long time.

Swansea's the biggest doubt for me, but as previously mentioned, Brendan will really want to win there after previously underperforming against them. We play the Saints at home, so I'm not worried there. Anfield's been a fortress this year smile. Sunderland would give me pause (we seem to misfire against them a lot), but it'll be Suarez's first league game back and he'll want to hit the ground running.

If we finished these fixtures on 16-18 points, we could really make something of this. I'm believing again, lads.

Forgetting the results from past number of years, one has to expect Liverpool to beat all three of these teams. If we can't beat teams that are almost certain to finnish around mid table or lower, then we can hardly hope to be in the top 4 next May. And Liverpool should always hope and strive for at least top 4 in every season.
If Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal or City were playing these three teams we would all be expecting them to win. So after signing 8 players in the summer and 2 in last winter windows, we should anticipate enough improvement to do the same.
Anything less than 9 points here will be a slipup for me.

Fair point Anne, but very fer teams go on a 6 match winning run. Even the best slip up now and then. I'm optimistic but not overly confident.

Like most have said they are all winable games especially considering the improvements we've made and the determination and resilience we've shown so fair in defending a lead.
Having said that I think we should take it one game at a time, we need to get past Swansea first and build on that. I hope the international break doesn't cost us in terms of injuries. Most of the players in these teams are not involved in internationals so they'll have more time to prep so we need to be mindful of that as well

Swansea are always difficult but Man UTD won comfortably there and they have been struggling a bit ( not too much) this season so we'd have to be tipped to get a win. Southampton are quite good but tend to struggle on the road so fortress anfield should secure the points there. Then Sunderland are really struggling this season so we should have a handy win in all reality despite it being at the stadium of light.m

So 9 aren't too difficult in theory but you never know with Liverpool...

7 points would be good although I agree that 9 points should be taken from these 3 games which are not as hard on paper as the 3 we have played so far.

One thing that will change is that we will have to score more than 1 goal in each of these games to win them. All 3 of these will attack and not be as cautious as the last 3 we played.

Having said that I am sure we will create far more chances ourselves and take them. We have played well so far against teams that sometimes only allow you to play to a certain level.

Nothing is more important than the next game and to win at Swansea would be an excellent result. There is also the carrot that dangles in front of us from the other weekend games. Will we be needing a draw to go back to the top or will a win put us 3 or 4 points clear. Playing on the Monday again gives us an extra day or two to get players back from international duty compared to our rivals.

This means that injuries like the one to Sturridge are already being assessed and anything that happens on Tuesday night to any of our squad has a couple of extra days to be treated.

Like not playing in Europe this season we must use this to our advantage.
