I am still awaiting confirmation from Liverpool that Aly Cissoko has joined on a season-long loan although it appears that the defender has completed his loan move and has even trained with the rest of the squad today. It could be a case of Liverpool supporters adopting a "We don't need Willian cause we've got Aly" siege mentality but I must say that I think that Liverpool will make one significant signing this window. They clearly have money to spend if they think it is good value for a player. But do they have plan B, C or D, as José Mourinho claimed Chelsea have earlier today? Our movements in this transfer window have been amateur at best, you could go as far as saying incompetent. I no longer believe we will make any major signing this window.

Sometimes the short-term necessities are the hardest to fix and the most expensive to remedy immediately.
I'm not saying some mistakes haven't been made. I am happy with the calibre of player we're targeting. And I am definitely happy we're refusing to spend more than the player is valued within the club. It may mean a sacrifice short-term, but in the long-term, we won't be screwed over. At least our scouting department is picking out realistic players!

That policy only works if no one else wants the player, but if the players we are now targeting are top quality there will always be competition. We have seen that this summer, all three top quality players that would go into the starting 11 we have missed out on because we would not pay a few million extra.
This policy is flawed.

Haha, no it only means we are helping Spuds pick out the right players. If FSG want to save a few more £ then why don't they sack the whole scouting department and do like Spuds and go in late and hijack each and every transfer we feel fit? For that we don't even need an own scouting department ffs! Must admit I do feel a bit tired about this mess atm!

I think Cissoko will have a thorough medical, maybe more so that others. This could be taking time for the results but if we hear nothing by 6pm wednesday I suspect something is up with it.
If he does come on board, we have a left side defence with either Enrique or Cissoko. This adds extra options to the midfield. e.g. Cissoko in defence, Enrique in left midfield with Coutinho more central. Then we also have Sterling and others as alternatives.

cissokho will definitely give us more options this season. means we no longer have to throw glen johnson out on the left hand side. i felt he did a good job there when called upon but we need him in his natural position.
as for willian its a real shame we've fallen so far behind the likes of spurs with regards to pulling power. hard to believe in fact. but their recruits this season are really impressive and villas boas has really strengthened them this season. makes you wonder where they have actually pulled the cash from to break their record transfer fee's 3 times this window and still continue to spend. £90m so far, they must be bracing themselves for bale's exit

Yes, I see no other explanation to their mad house signing galore!

Cissoko is being bought as a squad player, don't think he is our answer for top 4.
