Who knows it may also be the manager's reputation that convince players to/not to sign for us.

not dropping points from silly mistakes and taking more of the chances created will probably help with that.

as for willian its a real shame we've fallen so far behind the likes of spurs with regards to pulling power. hard to believe in fact. but their recruits this season are really impressive and villas boas has really strengthened them this season. makes you wonder where they have actually pulled the cash from to break their record transfer fee's 3 times this window and still continue to spend. £90m so far, they must be bracing themselves for bale's exit

It’s not so much 'pulling power’ want3d, it’s more about wages power, our penny wise and pound foolish innocents abroad think they’re in a buyers market, but that isn’t the case with quality players, it only operates at the cheap young hopeful level.
They’re just hoping for a cheap miracle signing, and it happens, but unfortunately not nearly often enough. Its fools gold, and we’ll get nowhere until they wake up and compete for the quality we need.

I think there are obvious targets that BR could get in and they would 'slightly' improve our squad and numbers. Lets face it, anything's an improvement on Downing. Just for example, say Scott Sinclair or Ince.

BUT... We could get them tomorrow if LFC wanted to. I like we are looking to get in players City were looking to sign, and with no European football, at least attempting to bring in the best we can.
We're always going to be 2nd favourites ATM to clubs offering European ball, have oil money or based in London.

We will bring in 2/3 'gettable' targets, in the last days of the window if we have to, I'm sure BR has good players (Alberto,Aspas,Mingolet etc) in mind if his 'gamble' targets don't come off. Would people prefer us just signing Ince and Sinclair but happy no one rejected us???? Silly mentality.

Might not be as 'glamourous' as we're all hoping, but we can't even offer the glamour (I use glamour there loosely) of Europa League.
So bar kidnapping these players and forcing them to come, what are LFC suppose to do??!!!!

Coutinho and Sturridge anyone?? Two of our best players and they weren't 'marque'.
We're keeping our 30 goal a season man while Spurs are selling their best player. Bit of perspective needed.

A very optimistic and excited fan for this season.

Liverpool confirm signing of Valencia defender Cissokho

The 25-year-old passed a medical at Melwood before putting pen to paper on a deal that will see him spend the 2013-14 campaign with the Reds.

He becomes Brendan Rodgers' fifth summer signing, following in the footsteps of Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Simon Mignolet and Kolo Toure.

And after clinching his new deal, Cissokho told Liverpoolfc.com: "I'm very happy to be here. I think we have a great team and great fans and together we can achieve big things.

"It's going to be a great experience to be able to rub shoulders with the club's top-quality players. I have experience in the game, but coming here there will still be lots of things to learn and discover as I work with everyone every day.

"I can learn from my new manager, get to know the new style of play here, familiarise myself with different opposition teams and learn the language. It's going to be a great experience for me, and of course playing for the club for the first time is something I'm excited about."

The Frenchman boasts a proven pedigree at the highest level of European football, having played in the Champions League for Porto, Lyon and Valencia.

Cissokho, who began his senior career with FC Gueugnon, got his first experience of playing at Anfield when he represented Lyon in their 2-1 victory over Liverpool in October 2009.

I think he was joking about temp. signings rather than perm. but I can't be certain! He certainly isn't free.
