This is wild, but what about...

A league (cup) where the champion of each country ( even the "smaller" leagues: Ireland, scotland, Iceland, Italy ect laugh ) plays the old style knock out, no groups, just home and away.

Have a second much larger competition, the size of the champions league now, with the best of the rest of Europe - say 5 teams from the biggest leagues, filtering down ect.

Now, as the teams from the first "Champions" league get knocked out, they drop into the other competition - much like the system now with the CL & the Europa - except.. except, dropping into this second tournament wouldn't be a shitt tournament, and one worth competing in..

Ahh forget it.

Injury prone players like Agger shouldn't be risked though. Not until the latter stages.

I think we should take every match we play seriously. A win is a win, and a trophy is a trophy, even though some are rated higher than others.

As for the Carling Cup, I think its a great chance to play a few youngsters and give them the chance to prove themselves.

I think it's a myth that BR didn't take the cups seriously last season smile just the players let him down. If he had of played kids against Arsenal or Chelsea I could understand people saying that, but the teams we put out should not have lost those games.

I know, he put out a team with Luis Surez, Martin Skrtel an Stewart Downing, they should have beaten Oldham easy.

Exactly! Premier league players should be able to able to beat smaller teams. Kenny got to 2 finals, and he played 2nd stringers and kids until the bloody semis!

We had managers in the past who took things seriously, some fans (sic) were not satisfied, if its not one thing its the other

I remember when Prague, Red Star etc used to be a European force but now don't have the money to compete.

With that logic, does that infer that we did not deserve the champions league in 2005?
thought we deserved to get there, not win it on the nite and I thought we should never of been allowed to play in it in the first place, just my opinion, we were the better team on the nite in Athens tho and never won it...

That's football, you never know what might happen.
