i don't think they will get more, he won't have another season like last where everything he hit found the back if the net, he misses first 6 straight off.

his chance converted ratio last season was not that good (certainly not everything he hit) it was just over %15

Agree here,Reina wanted out the door however his beloved Barca didn't come calling because Valdes is finishing his contract. If they had it would have been Liverwho. We got a new keeper because it still would have been an issue next season and we would then have been paying top top money. He is still our player and we are saving a few million on wages. We hear all this World Cup year but Reina's job as Spain's THIRD keeper seems to be for morale only,he never plays competitevly. He was agitating for a move for a long time and only seems to have upped his game because there was talk of Barca. This letter to fans has only spread more negative media coverage and if you were contemplating a move to LFC this summer would you go when you see how poorly the board have treated a longstanding senior player, however I'll keep the fans sweet

Exactly you have described it perfectly. Reina needs to concentrate on football,

I didn't want Reina to go, but as soon as he starts talking about leaving and going home, how really committed is he? As a few have already said on here, he'll be at Barca next year when Valdes finally goes, so the club had to make a decision before Reina, to protect the club and secure a goalkeeper for next season. How much do you think we would have paid for Migholet if Reina had gone and Sunderland knew we needed a goalkeeper?
Now the Barca switch never materialised so we end up with 2 keepers competing for the No.1 spot. Ideal, but which ever one you play, the other is understandably not going to be happy.

If we started with Reina then Migholet potentially starts to lose his place in the Belgium team, causing him to become upset and potentially start looking for a new team even before his Anfield career has started.
Start with Migholet and you have Reina upset about potentially not getting into the Spanish squad for the world cup, but more importantly for Liverpool, his transfer value starts to tumble. Send him out on loan to Napoli, where he is playing and hopefully performing every week, his transfer value at the worst remains static. Ensuring that not only do we save on his wages for this year, but we save on the negative lose on his transfer fee next year when he eventually goes to Barca.
Ideally the club would have loved to have sold him, but as mentioned, I believe he will be at Barca next year, that's where he wants to play, so who is going to pay a transfer fee for him for a year. Arsenal are looking for a keeper and have sniffed around before, so why haven't they come in for him?

His letter is a PR stunt to try and gain the support off the fans. I've no hard feelings about him wanting to leave, but equally I feel the club have done the right thing in this instance. Also, if he wanted to stay and fight for his place that badly, all he had to simply say to Napoli was no.

Exactly

Valdes says hes leaving Barca, Reina says he wants to go to Barca,Liverpool get replacement keeper,Valdes says he's staying,Barca dont bid for Reina,Reina then says he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Hardly LFC's fault. If Barcelona had of bid for him ,he would have been away. No point in him spitting the dummy out now.

Not sure it was exactly in that order, what I recall was, Valdes had one year left on his contract and there was a big probability that he would be sold. Reina made his feelings known that if Barca came for him he would like to leave (it still is LFC's call as he has 3 years left on his contract). Before the opening of the transfer window Valdes says that he will see the end of his contract, ie, would stay for one more year. Despite this we buy Mignolet and BR tells everybody that Reina is going to compete for the keeper position and then suddenly, he is loaned out. The only benefit of the doubt that I can give FSG is if we have enough money to buy our priorities in this window (was not a keeper in my opinion) and there was a risk of not getting a good keeper next year.

His clear cut chance finishing rate was 55% though, best in the league.

In regards to the OP, it's a nice gesture from Pepe. He really loves the club, and I'm sad to see him go, but I think this is the way forward. I would have liked to see him and Mig compete, but I think Mignolet looks a solid replacement. Reina hasn't been his best lately, and though he improved massively at the end of his season, he still was not what he needed to be, and he had a very blah season. Best of luck to him, and I hope he does well with Rafa at Napoli.

It's apparently either Bale or Suarez for Real Madrid, this has been communicated to Suarez according to Skysports.

The Reina situation compared to real life.

A bloke tells his wife he wants to go off with the next door neighbour, however he asks his wife to stay with him if his next door neighbour does not make an advance for him.

Result: Bloke is getting a divorce and is chucked out of the house.

Reina clearly has a heads gone situation to think he could stay at Liverpool if Barca did not make a move for him, especially after telling BR that Barca will make a move for him and he wants to join them.

Totally agree with that mate. I think a few have missed the point that he would have gone to Barcelona in a heartbeat if an offer came in for him. So FSG knowing this have bought a replacement before it became a ransom demand. This is only a loan. Valdes will not sign a contract for Barcelona. Reina gets a year to prove his worth in the CL which lets face it he should use as a stepping stone to Barcelona and earn us a decent fee in the
process.

He has gone to Italy to play for the man who brought him to England and he may yet get his dream move. So does it matter that FSG did all this supposedly without his knowledge? Remember this guy would have walked to Barcelona if they came calling and would have left us in the lurch.

Unlike the Suarez thing FSG struck first on this one and I believe they have got it right. The player is getting a good deal out of this prior to the World Cup, we are getting a good deal by keeping him in the shop window. Napoli don't have to buy I guess and Barcelona can come in for him next summer if they like the look of him still.

I hope he does well but there was no need to take a swipe at the club for engineering a position where the ball is now in his court.
