my point is, i havent seen a single post begging and pleading for Luis to stay, nor have I heard BR say "please oh please dear Luis, stay some more"...so the OP is not based on valid arguments imo.

In answer to your question, I suppose every situation is different. But yes it is getting very emotional so lets stop. And I wish I could go back to Amsterdam wink

Pete: Berg, I'm just not cut out to be a good person.
Berg: I know. That's why the Lord gave us good looks.

In response to the OP, Suarez has been catching plenty of flak from fans like you, faz, and plenty of others who are unhappy so I don't think your argument is fair. Also, all of the players you mentioned stayed, and they're more or less still loved there.

My opinion on Suarez has always been that as a player, he is all but irreplaceable, but for the right price, his contribution is. Not many players play like him, but that is not to say we couldn't sign a player who would score as many goals and contribute so much to our play.

Like Prolific, I have not seen/read any comments pleading for him to stay. Nor have I seen any with reference to tears or whimpering. In fact, I have seen many players hoping for him to stay. A fair amount expecting him to repay the fans for their support. Another section understanding that for the right price, we should sell him (if only abroad) and those you dislike his character and say we should get rid regardless of what has happened of late.

I think telling him to "put up" or go away is a very immature way of dealing with things. To me, it is a clearer case of: the club should tell the player that he has a contract with the club. We don't want to lose him, so therefore tell him that unless a team offers £50m+ now AND we can line targets up, he is expected to stay for a minimum of 12 months in the hope we qualify for the CL. If that fails, we'll consider offers again, but again only at a fair price of about £50m, because as much as we respect his need to progress and change, his comments to the press have only insulted the club's stature, and that is not appropriate for any player still contracted to the club.

if he has insulted the club not to mention badly damaged the clubs reputation in the past then surely the club have to get shut or at least give him an ultimatum. Why is he not treated by the same rules as Don Hurchinson, Charles Intanji, Jimmy Case and Ray Kennedy or El Hadj Diouf, I know if it was somebody like Jay Spearing or Martin Kelly he would of been reigned in.

Mick, I said he had insulted the club's stature. I never said he had damaged our reputation in there at all. I don't think he has damaged our rep all that much. Most of this has fallen on his head.

The only things you could say have damaged our rep are:

1. the t-shirt scandal - but we all know he wasn't being racist so it is only as damaging as the media choose to let us think it is. Reputation tarnished through the club's choice, not his.
2. the non-handshake - which people can decide for themselves about, but I definitely didn't see much intent from Evra to shake hands. He disrespected us here. Damaged our rep? No.
3. the bite - where we quite rightly questioned the discrepency between one mans charge of 3 games for a worse offence, against our 10. No question who was blamed here though. Him, not us.

He is no saint. He hates the press for not loving him, but ultimately they have chosen to come down on him, over the club. He can moan about their mis-treatment, which I still believe he has been, but ultimately saying that he wants to leave for a team competing for more honours is not damaging our rep, only insulting the club still paying him. THAT, I believe, is enough to warrant telling him he has to stay, even if ultimately, I think we respect him enough to sell, if only at the right price.

the point I am trying to make stanley is if he wasn't such a good player and worth alot of money to the club he wouldn't of been treated so leniently by the club. I agree entirely with you about it being all about money but its not moraly right is it, all players within a club should be treated equally and fairly which is not the case here is it. It's alrite saying that money us the be all and end all but where do we draw the line and become football supporters instead of money men because let's face it all the talk is about money, surely it has to be a sport somewhere along the line and if it does then that's were morals have to return to people's ways of thinking.
