I for one was glad they sacked KD, I thought he was out of his depth and I believe things would have got worse with him in charge. Despite stabilising us after Hodgson was sacked and having us on Champions League form, winning our first trophy in 6 years which helped us get back in to Europe, getting to 2 cup finals. He had already lined up new transfer targets such as Diame on a free and was looking to address our striking problems. Imagine Kenny and Clarke's defensive minded team with Suarez's form last season. We would have easily challenged for top 4, instead everything was ripped apart and we ended up with players we didn't actually need such as Borini and Allen and had our worst start in over a century and KO'd out of all competitions early doors and writing off the Premier League before we even got to Xmas.

My view Why or why did you buy average midfielder that where not needed Even if they where british, it didn't mean pay them stupidly DC has a history of square pegs for round holes.
Joe Allen for 15 million shows that it wasn't DC or KD's fault. We haven't been good in the transfer market for a couple of decades.

A few things: 1) LOL!! 2) When Kenny had arrived, Hicks & Gillet had already gone and the club was the most stable it had been for a long time. Kenny deserves as much credit as John Terry for that. 3) 'Champions League form' means nothing without champions league football. Plenty of teams have put together string of results which and been to of the form table, but it means nothing. Give me consistency over patchy form, anyday. 4) First trophy in 6 years. Is that the prestigious 'carling cup' where we struggled against South Wales's 2nd best team? Even Kenny admitted it was devalued because the bigs clubs don't take it seriously! 5) 2 cup finals. As you have already mentioned the carling cup we'll assume that you are singing Kenny's praises for losing the fa cup final. Wow. The domestic cups mean very little to big football clubs these days. If you look back over the last 5, 10 , 15 years, there have been an increasing number of smaller teams reaching the latter stages. This isn't because they are great teams, it's because proper big clubs have bigger fish to fry.

Rodgers messed up big time last season by dismissing the cups, if he does the same this season he will be gone by Xmas, a good season for us is a top 7 finish and picking up one of the domestic cups, I would settle for that each season given as that's all we are as a football club now. The problem is that in Rodgers' whole managerial career, he has always dismissed the cups and been knocked out early doors, instead he concentrates on the league, but even then that results in nothing. Watford - Fa Cup - 5th Round League Cup 5th Round (Rodgers first League cup match) Reading - FA Cup - McDermott took them to the QF's after Rodgers was sacked League Cup - 2nd Round Swansea - FA Cup - 4th Round - 4th Round League Cup - 4th Round - 2nd Round Liverpool - FA Cup - 4th Round League Cup 4th Round That's why Rodgers doesn't like the cups.

I agree with what you say about those domestic cups not being viable targets for the really big Clubs which is why I don't understand us not taking them serious, those domestic cups are worth winning for the likes of ourselves, Spurs, Everton, Villa and West Brom's of this world. If we don't try and win them it means we will never ever see Liverpool pick up any silverware again because we won't be winning Leagues and champions leagues will we. I thought Liverpool Football Club existed to win trophies, with this manager apparently not.

Why so negative? Why is it not possible? ManCity where not even in the Premier League a few years ago.
Domestic cups are essentially practice for the reserves until the later rounds. There is a reason Wigan got relegated. If the squad has the quality and depth then lets go for it. Currently its not so I don't want the players injured or fatigued due to a cup.

Currently its not so I don't want the players injured or fatigued due to a cup. its not being negative tho is it, it's living in the real world, we can no longer compete with the big four so domestic cups are the only silverware it's possible to win, this is the bottom line. It's no good saying that about City, City no matter what there history or part says are a bigger, richer and more powerful club than us now, we may have a better history or past pedigree but it gets you absolutely nothing in 2013 does it. The way I see it is this, we have nothing to lose by going all out to win the cups, nothing to lose simply because we have nothing to start out with so why not give it a good go. If you look at last season Rodgers dismissed every cup competition in order to finish 7th, your seriously not telling me if we took them serious we would of finished alot worse off than we actualy did anyway, cups are better than what we have anyway which is nothing.

Given we are not in Europe it would be absolute madness (even by FSG standards) to not take the cups seriously.
