Garbage ground garbage board and much as I love them you have to say a team hard to get excited over these days. AND TOO MANY OF OUR FANS PREPARED TO ACCEPT THIS RUBBISH

That's been part and parcel of our long slow decline, too many of our fans accept mediocrity and failure season on season, and are prepared to allow their expectations be managed by incompetents with low to no ambition.
How some fans can accept and defend the continuation of FSGs recruitment policy in the teeth of "the comets pulsing rose" (moment of opportunity) this transfer window is beyond me. If ever there was a time to invest in a couple or three proven quality players its this window and it's not happening, at least not yet and to be honest I've little confidence it will. I hope on hope they prove me wrong.

If all was equal financially then I still think that LFC is one of the biggest clubs out there. Trouble is money talks. Look at Monaco for a prime example. Just came up from the French div 2 and because they have a [oops] load of cash, can out do most clubs in the world.

It doesn't really matter how big a club is now just how much money they have.

But it's not like we haven't buying world class players. Torres, Xabi, Suarez.

We should be used to that by now - but we're not. Ever since I started to pay attention to matters other than the team results, it has been blatantly clear our club has been managed by incompetent cretins. I'm not talking about the managers or owners, but the directors. Broughton aside (who doesn't really count as his only aim was to sell the club), when was our last decent chairman, MD, commercial director, director of football, chief executive? Despite all of our success, in a funny way we're very lucky to still be in business and competing at a moderate level. You name it, we do it badly.

I wouldn't say that either of those players could be regarded as world class when we bought them. They may have become world class but that's a different argument - it just shows that we can't hang on to the best players.

Could we sign a world class player at the moment? No. We couldn't even persuade roberto martinez to be our manager! We've got our 2nd choice manager buying 2nd choice players. Yes, we'll reduce our overheads but that doesn't excite me.

Was he even 2nd choice though?

Considering Martinez, AVB, Sven, M O'N, and plenty of others like Deschamps and Rijkaard were also linked.

It seems to me that he was last choice alongside Martinez. FSG wanted a yes man, plain and simple, they didn't want a manager who would complicate their business plan, but would bring success to the club, as was highlighted when they dismissed Kenny winning the League cup and with Rodgers saying cups don't matter and he would refuse to go down the fair play route to get in to Europe.

With Martinez and Laudrup winning silverware last season at worse teams than ours it only further highights what a mistake we made last summer and an expensive one at that, with paying Rodgers and his buddies compo at Swansea, buying him an expensive warming present in Joe Allen and compo for Kenny, Keen and Clarke. We should have stuck to what we had, but made changes to the transfer policy.

Kenny was reinventing the boot room and going back to his routes with similar signings to that which he made first time around, it's an utter shambles that FSG didn't see his project out, as it had a lot more legs to run with than Rodgers' one dimensional tiki taka crap.

I for one was glad they sacked KD, I thought he was out of his depth and I believe things would have got worse with him in charge.

I put equal blame on FSG, DC, & KD.

KD wanted the players he said so himself.
DC overpaid blaming FSG and their buy british policy
FSG had an insane plan and were foolish to trust DC

My view
Why or why did you buy average midfielder that where not needed
Even if they where british, it didn't mean pay them stupidly
DC has a history of square pegs for round holes.

Don't think last season was better though.

I hate where and were grammar, maybe its just friday and am not with it. I guess i should really be doing work rather than frequenting these forums.

Anyhow...
I do believe that last season was better than the previous. I see the cups as a distraction of the real competition. (they mean something yes, but even Wigan won and I would say their season is a failure) We started the season as we finished the last, and people were talking about relegation. I am now feeling far more positive and even believe that 4th/5th is possible.
I'll put it down now, 65 points is my acceptance level, above 70 and i'll be happy
