Man Utd haven't spent much money on players in a fair few years.
Chelsea haven't won it recently despite a huge outlay on players.
Man City failed to reclaim the title.
Arsenal spent fairly big and barely made progress.
Spurs spent less, and closed the gap on them.
Everton spent less than us, and finished above us.
Money isn't the driver here. Talent is. The only thing money does, which is arguably the only thing I have ever agreed with NoMark One about, is that spending big money generally reduces the risks of signing a player. The more valuable players, are those good enough they can play in any team. If we sign players that suit BR's way, and they improve on what we already have, then there is nothing to suggest we can't improve to that level. I never said we were winning the league, and as I say, City and Chelsea both spent more unwisely last season, than Utd did wisely.
The players linked are generally young improvements on our current young players, or players just looking at the stage before they peak. Signing them before they make the name for themselves in the big leagues. Somebody had to sign Cavani before he impressed so much.
